Can anyone recommend a decent hotel in Manchester City Center? Will be arranging an FMMMM later in the year and am looking to avoid embarrassment going up to the room!

The Place is great - apartment type rooms - very spacious, very well maintained and they usually have 2 double rooms. Gorgeous converted mill. Prices on late rooms can go for about £80

Tha Palace - (watch the spelling) is a more classic hotel. Double height ceilings and chandeliers, though you wont get a room for anything less that £120, and even that is on late rooms.

The Macdonnald; very modern, luxurious finishes to the rooms, spacious but not as roomy as The Place. Prices are circa £130 - but it is a 5* hotel (might be 4*)

Never been to The Renaisance, I would avoid The Britania like the plague, There are Nova hotels, Jurys inn, Days Hotels - but these are essentially Premier inns with a pinch more flair.

The Birdcage is nice - cheapish apartments, but the £70 ones are nothing in comparison to the £80 ones at the Place. So for a lot of guests and a very good finish - I'd go with The Place. It's less than a min walk from Piccadilly Station too.
