Someone told me recently that having pampas grass in the front garden is a sure sign of being in the lifestyle. Doubtless it's an urban myth ...... anyone out there got some in the garden, and if so, has it been spotted as a swingers badge?!

When I purchased a house with a large one in the front garden I fairly quick dug it out. Once their established it's a hell of a job removing one, worse than the equivalent sized tree.

I've got an eight foot one near the head of my drive, though to be fair it was there when I bought the house.

I quite like its appearance though, so I've no intention of removing it.

The only few comments I've had relating to its limks to swinging have been from meets arriving at my home, so I don't think vanillas are too aware of its reputation really. Plus Im tucked away at the head of a cul de sac so don't get much passing through nosey rumour mongers...

Replacing my porch light bulb with a red one was a mistake.

Well, if you really think that it might be true, why don't you simply find all the houses in your town with a Pampas grass, and go and knock on their door, stark naked, holding up a packet of condoms, and smiling....

I'm sure you'll eventually work out if it's true or not..!

Its a similar old wives tale to the one at military housing estates where wives supposedly put a box of OMO in the window to signal old man out which meant they were up for fun.

I worked at many military bases and never saw this.

Saw one window with a box of Flas once though so i did and was escorted from the base

Really I thought being clean shaven was more of a sign than spouting a 8 feet high bush

Razorsharp leaves too so no hiding in one in the nude...

Snap! Though the red light bulb is dead now. But I actually have a leather sofa and arm chair in the lounge and a leather sofa in the gym too to atone for my lapse attitude to cryptic swinger indications...

Pampas grass is an urban myth and besides people move house every 7years or so and most don't take plants with them.

MAMOBA, miles and miles of bugger all (Aberdeenshire)

aw nuts, another swinger failing... I stay in a flat and don't have a garden, so no pampas grass here...

No red light bulb in the outside light either - its maintained by the factor, wonder if I should request that

and as I have been reliably informed, single munters cannot swing as we have no partner to swap...

I'll just get me coat

That is actually true, women did put a box of OMO in the windows when their guys were away..

Horsham,

The pampas grass thing comes from the 1970's, probably when most of them were originally planted, when it was alleged that everyone threw their keys in a bowl and went home with whoevers keys they picked up, whether all thus is true or not I have no idea...I'm far to young for all that

I seem to remember about a year ago, maybe more that a certain celebrity (Mariella Frostrup) was accused of being a swinger because she had some pampas grass. She had't heard about it.
