Some advice please

I have type 1 diabetes and wondered if other people who have it tell the people they are meeting x Never quite sure how to approach the subject tbh. A couple of times that I have people have suddenly cancelled which is a bit of a shame as I am normal lol one guy I meet regularly is fine with it and is very good about making sure I have a snack handy lol. Any tips gladly welcome!

Bit of a different problem for me. I have an irregular heartbeat so the doctor put me on beta blockers. Do you think I could get an erection, absolutely not so I went back to him and good old viagra sorted the problem! Now I have no problems

For me I don't think it's necessary to tell anyone, unless you will need to take medication whilst with them?

Here occasionally, but mostly somewhere else

I think any easily-sorted medical issues can be solved within the "setting expectation" pre-meet discussion.

"If I faint, stick a Mars bar in me....no, the other end"

Is reasonably easy to work with.

"Do you know CPR"

Not so much...

Suppose you could put it on your profile and mention what your control is like and how likely you are to have a hypo or not?

I'm type 2 and well controlled, but sometimes i have bladder problems so i put pics up of me in products i use at these times. I'm not ashamed of it, despite having someone be nasty about it to me in these forums once.

But Diabetes isn't contagious. I wouldn't feel the need to tell anybody

You kept that quiet. Sorry...i'll stop kidding.

I'm sure some people just worry about conditions they don't understand, i know i would about some medical aides. But yeah was no need to be nasty about it,.

I think i'd ask someone about their condition before deciding on turning them down or meeting.

I wouldn't have any problem with it. Having some experience with type 1 I would prefer to know so I knew what your particular tell tale signs of an impending low were. That way I'd be able to assist if we found all that energetic activity was taking it's toll. Lol. There is quite a bit of ignorance regarding diabetes even these days but I have found most people have no problem understanding if it's explained a bit before hand. Of course there will always be those who won't feel confident in themselves to handle such possible situations however rarely they occur but this is no reflexion on the person with the condition. It's more, as I've already said about the person or people you are with and the confidence they have (or don't have) to cope with conditions they may know very little about. I think cancelling a meeting is probably their way of dealing with the unknown instead of asking what do they need to know about it for both of you to enjoy a good time.

I think whoever you plan to meet should be made aware so you can feel your in relatively safe hands. If they aren't able to meet because of it you're probably well out of such a meeting I would think.

My other half does sometimes and gets really down about it! Will be showing him this thread tomorrow! Thanks to all the forumites who have mentioned it here xx

And to the op, silly people react badly and you don't need that in your life! I see no issue with telling people as if u had a bad hypo they would be prepared and know what u needed!

If they have a hypo episode though nd the other person doesn't know it could be dangerous.

I think not telling could be a bit dangerous. If your play partner doesn't know what the condition is it doesn't seem very fair to put them in that position either.

Far better to pre-warn them so they know what to do if something happens.

I have medical conditions that I don't deem necessary to share with playmates as (1) doesn't affect my play; (2) isn't contagious and (3) none of their business.

However, if I had a condition where I could become unconscious, fit etc I think it would be wise to tell, as to withhold that could be detrimental to me and frightening to whoever I'm with.

This will put some people off, and they shouldn't be judged for that. No strings, uncomplicated sex for some means just that.

I have epilepsy which appears to be under control with the medication but I do tell any new guy I play with just in case, wouldn't want to have a seizure whilst his cock is in my mouth, he may lose it when I bite down. Lol.

Thanks all seems everyone has different opinions but you have all made me feel better about it. I have unfortunately been in a meet where I did go into a hypo luckily for me the guy was my fb and as we have been meeting for a couple years read the signs and made me food and knew to go in my bag and get my sugar snack it was this that got me thinking of it.

Don't even know how to help with that. Lol don't even know how you ask your doctor or nurse for advice on that either.

Don't suppose it could be sorted by you testing your bloods more often? Might reassure yourself that you aren't gonna have hypos (or are at least more in control of your body and you might worry less).

Normally I have total control hun and hypos are rare had it 25 years so know how my body works sometimes though it just bites you on the bum and takes you by surprise and nothing you can do but eat food and guess if who you are meeting knows this its easily rectified x

It isn't just diabetes that can cause problems. Couple of months ago a random blood test/check up showed up high blood pressure. Very high . Tablets have solved this issue but when I asked my GP what was the cause - I have a healthy heart - he replied that it was my age, it was one of those ailments to expect as people live longer and most men would have the same issue. BTW, the course of tablets are for LIFE.

Thing is they can thin the blood as they work . . . and guess what that can lead too?

Fortunately I've never been "hung up" on "cock issues", my partner "Pussy", loves giving me a BJ to completion and, even with a soft cock, I can cum utter buckets!!!

. . . it also gives me an excellent reason to watch "Pussy" getting fucked into next week by younger guys with big dicks . . . ying and yang then?

But any male partner who thinks his and his female partners sex life is over if his willy goes limp is truly a selfish person . . . there's always the rabbits?

About 10 years ago I had met a guy a few times he was type 1 and I had no idea and he only went almost into a coma on me.

Thankfully he was staying over and kind of slurring said diabetic and I searched through his bag and found the insulin etc.

Luckily I knew what to do.

It would never affect me meeting someone but if there is a risk of going into a coma or having some kind of fit its only bloody sensible to tell them.

It bloody scared me.

Am type 1, have been for 37 years. Not usually a problem but have had a few hypos but always have things to eat and drink around. I usually tell them as I feel that people are more comfortable when they know something about you. Most people know someone who is diabetic so it's easier these days. Met a couple once and spotted a novo pen on the side and asked who was the diabetic. Great ice breaker lol

do you pick every bloody thing to pieces.

It was a long while a go, he was almost unconscious he slurred he was diabetic I rummaged through his things and found his insulin. I said I knew what to do.

Where have I said I gave him insulin. It clarified he was diabetic, so make sure you read threads properly its boring

Just figured people were more informed than they actually are.

Even my mum had loads of medical knowledge before the internet age and before awareness of anything really and i knew that was unusual for her time but these days i just figured people know a lot more than they do.
