Yes it's quite normal. If it's causing problems tho she could go back to the doctors and ask if they can cut the strings shorter

The strings can be a little stiff to begin with. They soften up over time.

As per the above good advice, getting them trimmed is a good thing if it bothers you.

This is partially why I won't have one... Not that I could now anyway.

Although the strings may feel sharp or hard they are not going to cut or harm you cock, don't worry and go for it.

Presumably it wouldn't rupture a condom though? Or could they?

Interesting thread. I am on my second coil and have never had anyone say they could feel it or the strings. I can't even feel them myself lol.

It's because the strings are cut! I had this issue with my first & mentioned it to the nurse on change over, they have left them uncut now & just tucked them round this time. No complaints now

I had three coils over many years and no problems. Mine were not cut either.

Just get your wire cutters out and trim it up or try a different angle/position xx

Strings are a menace. Surgical wire. I feel they could burst a condom because when the second one fell out of the Mrs I found them to be needle sharp. I too suffered bell end damage

Having the coil was the worst decision of my life! My partners could feel the strings, I bled continually, had pain which my doctor diagnosed as IBS! Had the damn thing removed and on the mini pill, much better.

Thing is op, it's your partners preferred choice of contraceptive so unless she's your wife or gf there's not a lot you can do, sorry

Had the same problem when my ex wife had one fitted. Not a nice feeling getting stabbed, just as you starting to go for it. Never had any problems with other women who had one fitted though.
