Toy Cleaning and Sharing

Jump to: Newest in thread

I am just getting into toys and wondered about cleaning and sharing.

At the moment I use hot soapy water but is that enough?

And what about sharing? You meet a guy/gal and they whip out a toy to be used on you - is that cool?

I think you can get wipes from ann summers and the likes that are too clean toys. Just have a packet handy and get one out as they get the toy out

I use a specialist sex toy cleaner as well as diluted Dettol in hot water. I also always use a condom on my toys.

I have a lovely squirting strap on I've never used: didn't think it through when I bought that one!

I'd rather use my own sex toys... its a bit like using someone elses toothbrush sharing others. I wouldnt insert my toys into anyone else either just a personal thing I guess. Plus some toys just don't 'feel right' its quite a complicated thing finding a favourite vibrator that suits your needs. I was distraught when my favourite model was no longer available.

Back of Beyond

Warm soapy water will clean them, it won't however remove any bacteria or other germs, you would need an alcohol wipe to do that or what about one of the multisprays?

Trouble is anything but warm water has a deteriorating effect on some of the cheaper silicone toys. You can tell because when you have cleaned them with a solution they remain tacky afterwards. Nothing to do then but throw them away.

I'm smiling at some of the comments here. I always use a condom on my toys and use specialist cleaners on them but people are going "yuk".

Naturally, these same people only meet androids with detachable sexual organs, as they surely can't be poked or suck a cock that's been used elsewhere!!!

I can see your point to an extent but if you look at a lot of members profiles one of the recurring themes is a desire for their partners to be clean along with horror tales of the smelly genitals they have been unlucky enough to encounter. As these are indeed not detachable of course you know they have been elsewhere but you expect them to be clean but can't know that they until you 'get on down' and I wouldn't think twice about saying yuk and ending it right there. As for undetectable nasties like std's thats the risk you take when embarking on this type of lifestyle.

It doesn't matter if its a smelly cock or a smelly sex toy the thought of both are repulsive. As we dont have control over others washing habits I choose to be responsible for my sex toys and indeed my own genital cleanliness and I don't see whats wrong with that. You wouldn't lick a spoon that had been on someones worktop because you can't know what has been on it - same as an unwashed sex toy. I don't care where any blokes cock has been as long as it smells and tastes sweet when its in my company.

Ah so thats why that happens! Im guilty of accidently hitting the on button when I put mine away and come back later to find flat batteries and MELTED bits! Quite amusing to think of the wee rabbit jiggling around all on its own - is this the vibrator equivalent of masturbation!!

peak district

Usually it's one toy per woman, or for the double-ender, one end per woman, and no swapping.

Soap and water cleans ours afterwards. If you're really obsessed about cleanliness you could put waterproof ones in the dishwasher! - or buy a home autoclave...

I use a spray I bought from a sex shop. It cleans and disenfects them.

I also use condoms on them when anyone other than me is using them, and swap the condoms between partners.

I do see your point. As I said I found some of the comments from certain people funny as they post openly about going to clubs and sucking on anything on offer but get squeamish at the thought of shared toys!

Don't get me wrong I have my foibles too: love anal play with men but didn't want bi men! Oh nowt as queer as folk!
