I've just had a txt from watsapp saying my subscription has run out and to click on a link to renew.

Is it a scam??

ignore it. block the number it came from also, report as a scam if you're able to do so.

likely a scam. there is no subscription to whatsapp, and even when the app itself asks you to pay to use it nothing happens if you don't.

Whatsapp is a free app now.

Anything with a link that asks for a subscription is a scam

You would have been able to find it by clicking on 'settings'' then 'account' and then finally 'payment info'

But as it turns out, WhatsApp is now completely free.., forever

So that text you had, was definitely a scam.

if you've "accidentally" clicked the link? Go to the google play store and download malwarebytes and run it.
