I too suffer with severe psoriasis & psoriatic Arthritis. (80% coverage)
Had it since age 13. Did all the creams, light therapy and tablet drugs to no avail. For the last 3 years I've been on humira for 1 year and benepali and methotrexate biologial injections for 2 years and currently have less than 1% on my skin, I've never felt so confident and happy in my skin.
I would highly recommend you ask for a referral to a good dermatologist and ask about trying these they've made a huge difference to my life.
As for people meeting you, if they are worth their salt and gain the pleasure of meeting you it won't bother them none.

One of the most delicious and erotic meets I had last year was with a lady with Psoriasis.
She was covered from head to toe, and very self concious at first.
But we had a wonderful meet together.
Lovely lady........... |

My big cuz has it and when it's bad, its bad (bout 85/90% covered) and the sunbed type treatment helped him at hospital and even normal sun beds helped keep it at bay.
On the self conscious thing, I get it totally. Some times when I take pain killers for my back I tend to get tight then dry foreskin at the tip and cracks and leaves wee lumps b4 healing and I tend not to engage in any activity, even when girl insists I go without oral as it's embarrassing as fuck.
Bit much info tbh but just an insight that your not alone on body issues knocking confidence |

I think psoriasis is something that is either more common or talked about more. I know someone that suffers, has done for many years and it has had a massive knock on her confidence.
It tends, for her to flare up if she has been stressed. Luckily at the moment it is only in small areas. She has tried many treatments, including light treatment, albeit many years ago. Perhaps it has changed since.
I think if you mentioned it to any perspective partners, they are aware, it shouldn't be a problem. If they turn you down because they don't understand, it just shows they weren't worth meeting. Personally, having had experience with someone who has suffered it wouldn't bother me. But I appreciate it bothers you. Find someone who sees you for you. |

Yes there are some risks with tablets/injections but i felt the benefits outweighed them. I like you was MASSIVELY self conscious and got pretty down, and it had a huge huge impact on my sex life...its a horrible condition to have.
With the tablets I've taken (methotrexate, cyclosporin, Acietretin) I suffered quite bad side effects so couldnt take them for to lonh and got in quite a helpless state thinking I'd always be a scabby freak (my perception of myself) but luckily with the injections i don't have any,my bloods and liver are stable and up to now it's been great. I know the thought of tablets or injections for the rest of your life seem daunting but if they work well they will long term mentally and in effect physically be a very good option for you.
I hope you find a way to help control the condition and get back to your happy, confident, sexy self.
All the best sweetie xx |

Hi the light box will work but will be time consuming.. try monitoring your diet around flair ups. Dairy, cheese, milk can make the condition worse or the flairs more frequent. You probably know that sunshine or sun beds help greatly but have their own associated problems. My daughter suffers terribly at times. I hope you find a partial solution xx B |

I can understand how you feel. I had it as a child but grew out of it. Anyone who is that shallow so it puts them off would not be worth your time and id bet they were shite in the bedroom.
Be proud of you, be sexy, bin those who are not interested in all of you.

My original swing partner suffered badly with it. While our "friends" took the piss I saw past it, partially because it's only a skin complaint and partially as I had escema when I was younger and found the comments disrespectful to myself. Anyway we had so much fun swinging most people couldn't give a fuck although there will always be someone who is nasty.
As said before if they turn you down it's their loss |

My ex suffers very badly with it.
He's been down puva ect. Has even done metrocate and cyclaspron ( spelling may be wrong)
With some relief but the Humas injections are the best one or two a week to start then only one weekly.
Totally clear now
No need for any creams ect at all.

Hello lovely, you know me, and you know how much fun I’m having here. So what you probably didn’t know was that I was 70%+ for 20+ years. Tried all the PUVA, fumaderm, lotions and potions over those years. Hospitalised 3 times. Finished a marriage to someone selfish and unsympathetic.
Then started on injections when they were a trial drug out of desperation. Ustekinomab first then Humira after the trial. That was 10 yrs ago.
Quite simply They changed my life. I am having my second life now. And you know your part in that! I still have a few small unbeatable patches because mine is ultra recalcitrant. But that doesn’t stop me living like a recycled teenager with an amazing partner and so many fab friends.
Darling, if they are offering you the injections take them. The jabs are painless. Side effects?, none for me in 10 years. Nothing except a better life. And if you need to know more PM me, I am an “expert patient” and know the score. You know where to find me. Don’t suffer alone. You are a star and deserve to be having a great time and the cure is right there. And as I can testify so is tolerance and understanding if you are the sort of person everyone loves, which you are! I have Psoriasis too. Lived with it for 48 years, been on lots of different treatments, some worked... for a while. Mrs Dev pointed out an article to me about a year ago that talked about "artificial antibodies".
After seeing my doctor, I was referred to hospital. Under the new NHS Choices system, I was given a list of possible hospitals and left to make my own appointment. The first 6 hospitals on the list were all part of our local NHS trust, and all of them refused me an appointment, as they were "fully booked". So I travelled out of the area.
Thank God that I did. I was assessed to have a PASI ( Psoriasis Area Severity Index ) of 13.5, and based on this was offered injections. Two options were discussed, one that was every month, one every 12 weeks, and I was advised that the second option would work best for me.
Totally life changing. Within a few weeks, I noticed a massive reduction in the visual effects of my Psoriasis. I am now rated with a PASI of 0.5 and I feel totally different about myself.
What disappointed me the most tho, is I have been regularly reviewed by my GP, and never once were these new treatments mentioned or suggested. It was only when I chased it up myself that I was referred to a dermatologist. Go to your doctor, and ask to see a specialist! |

I've finally gotten round to reading everything on the thread!
So, I've been through a mixture of things. The first I can say is yes there are men who will meet, and a decent man (or couple, or woman) would want you to be comfortable so if anything was hurting, they'd understand if you wanted to stop.
In terms of diet, you can't follow everyone else's diet you have to find one that works for you. I find beer is the worst, other alcohol next, carbonated drinks, coffee, caffeine, chocolate, dairy, onion, tomato (the list will go on! And it changes depending on the weather.
Get your skin out, embrace your body, hit the nudist beaches if you can and keep tying, but most of all you just have to keep moisturising two or three times a day.
Try Childs farm moisturising cream - it's been in the news recently x |

I met Blondie when she had about 60% coverage. We dated, got engaged and have been married for nearly 25 years..
Fortunately for her, in the last 5 years she has been on medication for psoriac arthritis (arthritis caused by psoriasis) which had cleared her skin practically completely, but her psoriasis was never a factor in our relationship and would never be a factor in whether we meet someone. |

A friend of mine has awful skin and she's on the biological injections. If you do get them make sure there's no gaps in treatment. It makes her skin so much better. |

The biomedical injections are great. My skin never got that bad, just scalp and behind my ears, but the arthritis did. The injections sorted both out really quickly.
It’s an auto immune disfunction, so I don’t think creams work. That’s just my completely untrained opinion though.
Great photo on this thread OP

"Oatmeal baths work well
Theres a cream ive used called Yiganerjing that works well and only have to apply a few times
Hope that helps"
That cream works but hard to get hold of.
Another helpful tip is to exfoliate in the bath then apply child's farm baby moisturising cream. Let it soak in then apply again. Best done before bed to give time to work.
Takes away the itchiness and reduces redness. |

When your lymphatic system is full of acids calcium can't combine with proteins so it can't be transported to the places within your body where it's needed,so your body starts to take calcium from other parts of your body like the cell walls and your bones and that is why your immune system is overactive because it's constantly sending messages to repair the cell walls because your own body is attacking itself from the build up of acids. This is why oatmeal baths have a soothing effect because your skin is absorbing the water which has a higher ph than what your body is. So by avoiding a acid forming diet and sticking to a alkaline based diet you will balance out the ph within your body and you will start to transport calcium the correct way which in turn will stop your immune system overacting which is the cause of psoriasis, arthritis and many other problems |
