I am always amused that in the 'details' section of ones profile, birth date can be "corrected if wrong". From the end of next month (being an honest chap) my age will show as 73! Even though many couples and ladies indicate age to be unimportant (18 - 99) am I too old at 73?? Should I "correct" my age, would I get more responses if I was, say, 68?? Normally honest Alan age 72 and a lot. |

In reality who will meet someone who's 99 ,there are people who will meet u but you will find even if u shave a few years off it won't ultimately benefit you so stay honest and see what happens |

Honesty is definitely best, I met a man from here who said he was early 50's and was clearly at least 10 years, maybe 15 older. There was something about him which made me tempted but because he'd lied I said goodnight and went home. |

I look at it quite simply if you are going to lie about your age what else are you going to hide. This thing about knocking a few years off just so you can get in someone's knickers may sit OK with some but not me .I find honesty pays off in the long run .if people don't wish to see you because of your age its their choice .move on . |

Thanks for responding. I've always gone with the honesty bit (my profile also notes I am married). My thought was if 70+ was a sort of watershed - my intention would be to 'confess' my real age during any exchange of messages. |

I wouldn't correct it, you're never too old. I've met people before who say they're a certain age (like in 30s) for example, and they've turned up looking at least 20 years older, and like the lady above said earlier, it's not a turn on knowing they've lied about something so petty.

I think past 60/65 your age has no bearing on how much interest is shown in you.
I would say it's not worth amending your age, it's usually obvious during conversations or to an observant person anyway. We never forget the man who claimed to be much younger than he actually was telling us about a lads holiday he went on. If the age he told us was correct he would have been 8 at the time  |

Please don’t lie about your age- honesty is the best policy.
I’ve met men who claim to be a certain age, with photos- only to discover they are at least ten years older when meeting them socially. This is why I always have a social first. My personal preference is to meet men close to my own age. It makes it very uncomfortable when I have to wriggle out of the situation! Haha!
By being honest you will find people who will be attracted to you!

Best thing to do op is get pics out of the way asap as nothing worse than messaging so wine for ages and then getting asked for a pic to find your not what they want ,that's a soul destroyer especially if you've been flirting and getting on famously |

Yes, when I get men claiming o be 10 years younger I usually think 'Either you're lying or you've had a really hard life!' and it's a real turn off, so you may end up putting more people off than you gain. |

I think there is a danger that the search filters lead people to be very age-ist. Lets face it there is little difference between a 50 or 51 year old but a filtered search may exclude the 'older' person. I guess we all need to see people for who they are not just a number. |

We don't lie about our age. People have met us and complimented on how much younger we look than our age would suggest. Phew....... I just think at least we are providing a pleasant surprise and not a uhoh...... as people would suggest if you lie. |

Thanks to all who have responded to this query. It is clear that my profile will show 73 from the end of Feb as the overwhelming consensus is honesty is the best policy - I felt that would be the case. Also thank you to those 'confidence' builders who took the trouble to look at my profile (and in some cases veris) and were complimentary about the 'old body'! I had only one (private message) who was rude enough to tell me I was too old... I will of course be too old one day and am now only worried that when I get to be 100 I will be left out of all searches..? I suppose I'll just have to live on my memories! We’ve always been honest about our age but frankly it’s a joke when we get contacted by seemingly much younger couples and when they send face pics they are easily our age if not older, it’s so off putting that they are that insecure that they lie about there age. |

We've had males turn up who are obviously considerably older than their profile states. Sometimes they've travelled many miles, but they're still told to sod off. Yes,they took umbrage, but couldn't explain the indiscrepancies between their current appearance and the face pic they'd sent us (while held up to them). Then starts the "But I've travelled a long way.." sympathy fishing crap. We owe you nothing mate, you're a liar, you're dishonest and you've got yourself into this mess.
If you're going to lie be prepared for the consequences. People aren't stupid and you're only fooling yourself.
OP, as has been said, stick to your guns. If you have to consider lying to get anywhere then perhaps FAB isn't the place for you. You should be enjoying your life, not stressing over why people won't have sex with you. |

I think youll struggle on here, people are very age judgemental, despite the guarantee that somebody has already posted age is just a number I bet they didn't arrange to meet you:=
If you go to clubs it is MUCH less of an issue and you should have a great time. |

Could be worse though op, you could be in a age gap relationship.
We get numerous mails asking for the hot young female to meet but leave the old duffer at home.
We reply with two words.
