It's when you see photos of yourself and think omg I look shocking then you're mates say hey that's a great photo!
Either they are lying or I'm a lot uglier than even I thought lolol |

I never think I am, but whenever I swap face pics with people they always seem complementary, so perhaps I (and perhaps you) have just got a negative self image.
If any ladies would like to give me their opinion, just let me know |

"Take loads of photos and pick out the best ones. That's what we do
Was just going to say this. For every stunning pic people post on here I bet there are dozens that get deleted.
K"
Actually thanks. Some of us do not know that. |

All the time. I hate it but half of it is being aware you're on camera. Apparently the trick is lots and lots and lots of pictures. I get nervous or aware of the camera and stiffen up, try too hard. I get it and it's something I'm working on myself. |

Try flipping the photo (left to right, unless your Aussie in which case top to bottom)
We get used to seeing our mirror image so when we see what the rest of the world sees we flip, not because it's bad, but coz it's unfamiliar.
Or just steal some pics from the intranet once your verified. |

Even my hubby agrees I’m not photogenic! I might get one decent pic in 100. I hate it. Feel really good about myself, try to take a selfie and then I’m crushed as the picture looks awful
I did a photo shoot once and they didn’t even try to sell me the pics and just gave me the one decent photo that came with the voucher !!! Lol

Maybe have photos taken of you when your not posing for the camera.
I'm not photogenic either takes ages to get a shot when I'm not contorting my face trying to smile, really need to relax. |

I'm sure you are gorgeous. But it is odd that cameras flatter some people but not others. |

Really hate being in photos where it involves my face in any way whatsoever.
One place I worked tried to create an internal social media thing and we were actually expected to use it (engagement) daily including pics and you could be written up for not engaging. I actually joined the union specifically to have representatives present because I knew I'd never touch it and I refused to be in any pictures posted on it. |

"absolutely hate my face, full on or side on.. cant stand it "
I feel the same about mine. Been that way for a very long time. Not a pleasent way to feel.
Thing is I bet you are goregous really.
That give me hope that I maybe have a perverse view of myself. Fingers crossed lol..
It also give me hope that people take a lot of photos before they get the 'good ones'. |

"I hate taking selfie’s, I’m an introvert by nature. But my face pics are always received well! "
I'm an introvert with low self confidence too (but I hate it, and I'm fighting it).
I've found posting photos, getting them fabbed and receiving nice comments has actually massively improved my confidence. |

A good photographer can always bring out the best in people. What a good photographer sees is often the real you, and they know how to present you. Don't judge yourself by how you look in a poor photograph. |

Seems your all missing the obvious, when you look in a mirror you see your face back to front, then when you take a pic its the way everyone else sees you, try flipping your photos and see if you like it, no face is perfectly symetrical, so you will always look (at least to yourself) odd in a selfie. |

I used to hate having my photo taken and I am very selective about what gets shared.
I do take a lot though ( without sounding vain) out of about 40 photos 1 may be ok.
Practice, learn what poses you like and highlight your best features.
Just play around , relax and have fun with it.
As someone said on here further up... being on here , getting a compliment thrown in my direction and a fab here and there has helped boost my confidence |

I always flip the pic to see if it’s better. It rarely is!

Lol yes I am better looking in person, hardly gorgeous (although hubby seems to think so, but then he is my hubby!) and your right we’ve met plenty that look awful in the flesh but look great in photos. Go figure! Sigh…. |

This is why I always chicken out when the chatting gets to...Send a face picture..The conversation usually ends anyway after I have sent the face picture...I never look right in selfies ...I 'ate' them with a passion |

It’s down to lighting/good angles not forgetting editing filters, rarely do people have super smooth skin, 90% of photos have been edited in one form or another. A good place to start for a face selfie is in front of a window the natural light will help.. ohh and take about 25 all slightly different then pic the best one.. theirs plenty free apps out there for editing.. |

Argh so that’s why people don’t look so good in person. Apart from changing to black and white I never think to use other filters! Mrs J x |

I've never actually found a filter I like. They all do weird things to my body and facial hair
Apart from colour filters, I'm just as I am. |

"Anyone else on here not photogrnic?
Hate selfies? Mine are always crap!
How come some people look gorgeous in any photo?
Other never look good?
"
Yes, it's really difficult to take good pictures. I don't manage very often despite taking loads.
Natural light is best for clear pictures but sometimes muted light can be more forgiving.
The right angle makes all the difference. It's usually best to hold the phone ever so slightly higher. Play around to find what kind of smile makes you look most attractive.
You can also get better pictures by using the timer on your phone or a tripod and a remote control. |

I had an interesting couple when I was a sports photographer for a derby team.
One girl I fancied the pants off, she was gorgeous, but on camera she was always derpy looking, never got a good photo. Her partner was not the greatest to look at but on camera she was so athletic looking, she was the show girl I used on my covers.
So don’t worry if you don’t feel you aren’t photogenic, most of us know it isn’t necessarily a true representation of oneself. |

One big problem with arm's length selfies in particular (apart from when people make stupid duck faces) is that the front-facing cam is a wide angle, which doesn't flatter most faces at all. Makes your nose look bigger and your face fatter.
I just can't do face selfies. I've had other people take pics with a longer lens that I don't mind and can stand to look at.
If you're on your own, trying using the rear facing cam (if using a phone), prop it somewhere and use the selftimer for a further away pic. You have to do that anyway for body shots, but most phones these days are good enough you'd be able to crop in tight for a face pic without it looking like crap. |

I hate face selfies and I don't like most pics I am in irl.
On here I never use the selfie cam. I prop the phone against something and take 3 or 4 pics and discard all or most of them.
None of my pics on here have taken more than 5 mins to take. I just crop out the parts I don't like and use angles to make some things look smaller and others larger.

It’s difficult to look natural in a photo when you know it is being taken. Hence why so many filters and people making funny faces seem to appear. I am guilty of the second. I know totally gorgeous people that just aren’t photogenic as they just try too hard. My partner takes so many photos I just ignore the camera now. Even the dog just lets him take them. As he takes so many one is always good. |
