Apart from the blocked for no reason others are plausible |

Were they first meets or people you already know? |

Mine were both first meets (hence the social), so don't really understand how having a cold meant they couldn't do coffee. Neither had the courtesy to cancel until I asked if we were still meeting and one was a second cancellation! |

I had a no-show once who, when he eventually responded to messages, then said he had been in hospital and had had a bad fracture in his leg. Needed an operation and it was really terrible. Three weeks later he posted on his status that he was looking forward to a skiing holiday he was going on that weekend! Some people have miraculous powers of recovery! |

Sorry but the last one isn't an excuse; I work shifts in a pub, if someone calls in sick, all the staff not at work get a text asking who can cover, as its extra money, unless I was asleep, I would go and cover the shift, so I agree with what someone has said, this last one is definitely plausible.
Blocked for no apparent reason, perhaps they just decided that you weren't for them, its the norm to block because then you cannot contact them again.
Sister being ill, that's also plausible if perhaps she is has special needs or is the primary carer. |

Mr Slowhand... You are a single male, get used to it. People can pick and choose, if they don't feel up for a meet ten minutes before it is planned then their prerogative to pull out. Laugh at their lame excuses if you will, but that will not alter the fact that they probably meet five times as many people that you do... |

'Sorry I couldn't meet last night, I had a really bad car accident, but I'm free tomorrow?' - obviously not that bad if recovery takes less than 48hrs, and had been logging on and off all of the night of arranged meet.
'Sorry I didn't show...I was on my way and got arrested cos the bike I was on had been reported stolen...you free tonight?'...erm no, I like the few valuables I own!
Had the usual bugs and unexpected guests, but tend to give the benefit of doubt the first time it happens. Annoying one for me if when I have to cancel because mother nature decides she fancies calling along a few days early...grr! |

I particularly like the people who make an excuse and back out of a meet - then the next morning they have a verification for a meet the night before with a different person. |

"DB9 queen, i think i know him...
if its same guy he spat out dummy because i wouldnt meet him this week "
I let him 'arrange' three meets - none of which went ahead. One excuse after another - I only did it to see how many times he would back out! I gave him four further opportunities to meet when I was free - he never was. Though he did have some verifications. I knew he was wasting my time - quite possibly deliberately. Mind you - I made sure I had meets on all the days we had arranged anyway so I lost nothing apart from the first cancellation!
Got bored and blocked him in the end. He was rather tall, blond and vwe - and obviously thought a lot of himself. |

I cancelled two socials last week as I had tonsillitis.. And received a torrent of "time waster" abuse because of it.. then to top things off my account went bonkers and i couldn't reply to any messages and my friend list couldn't message me.. so it looked like id blocked them. cue more abuse.. They now have a reason to complain, as after all their abuse I've legitimately blocked them! Lol
I'll try my best not to be unwell in the future!? Lol |

I have to say I've recently had to cancel a meet twice with an incredibly patient guy - both times through being called to work away at short notice. I'm amazed he's had the decency to tolerate me trying to arrange for a third time to be honest! I would have had enough of me long before now
I do caveat my profile with "usually only meet at weekends" for that very reason, but you don't half feel an arse when you have to cancel... |

"So how many chances do people give?"
Depends on how much we've chatted and if I like the sound of em but never more than 3 no matter what. And if they've just not bothered to show then there are no second chances as that's just rude. I'm sure some will disagree, but that's my rule and so far haven't been messed about too much x |

I gave someone 7 chances once, various lame excuses & no shows (he'd got under my skin & said everything I wanted to hear) and we did eventually meet, sooooo disappointing and taught me a lesson to trust my gut instinct & stick to my usual rules with everyone.
On occasions I've had to cancel a meet with shortish notice (24 hours) due to illness or work, unexpected early arrival of Mother Nature etc it can happen to anyone, everyone gets a couple of chances with me, as long as the cancel and aren't just a no show. |

My experience is sort of from the other side. I had met a couple a few times who would contact me like an hour beforehand asking me to come over. When they did this & I said I was out with friends - which I actually was, they obviously thought I was brushing them off from the reply I got. Felt like I should've taken a photo to prove it.
The trouble is telling genuine from cold feet. I know I've felt really guilty when I've let people down for genuine reasons. Similarly I've not believed for a second some of the excuses I've received. |

"i think if u get too know the people via messages etc, u know whether there reasons are genuine , ive never been let down as i choose my meets carefully "
Yep, I always get to know them a little first via messages, texts then a phone call or two, never had a fake/let down so far and of those that have progressed beyond a social meet, not one of them have been one offs |
