What does everyone think of Open House on Ch4
Jump to: Newest in thread
Hi All
What does everyone think of open house on channel 4. My wife is thinking about getting into lifestyle and would love the experience of open house but not be on the TV. Has stroked up good conversations about getting into swinging.
Anything around similar to this? |

It's unrealistic, heavily edited and over produced. The experts put couples in situations that will cause upset to make good TV .
If there's somewhere like that for people to go where there are 'resident swingers' I don't know of it.
As you may have noticed I'm very cynical about it |

lol, yes I completely get what you are saying that’s what we had said as well. Def put people in situations they clearly said they were uncomfortable with.
We would be lead just by mixing with people and going with vibe. Wouldn’t need the therapist part. Just partying with others that been doing it for while in an awesome setting. |

Those people who are residents wouldn't be doing it if it wasn't on the telly.
Swingers clubs are as close as you'll get. |

"Produced purely for TV ratings. Nothing real about the whole situation. However we are compelled to keep watching 🤣"
yes. Did you see the clip that was shown on Celebrity Gogglebox and the reaction. That made me laugh |

I'd like to see more normal people in there. Most people seem to look like models.
It's not a good reflection if swinging. It's very contrived and frequently unethical. Really I only watch it for the lesbian threesomes. Luke |

We like to watch it but it’s very unrealistic.
They don’t know if it’s for them first night, second night they’re right in about it lol |

I (mr) think it puts an unrealistic look on the “looks” of the people in the life style most on the show that are the “residents” are almost model looking and I think it will give people coming into the lifestyle a preset of everyone looks like that but saying that it is a good watch if nothing else is on the tele |

I think it helps and hinders - it suggests that you’ll be forced into something that is completely out of comfort zone (which is usually what the ‘expert’ therapists says! 🙄). My head would fall off if she said to us, right go off seperate and have sex without each other, if we’d gone on to meet another couple 🤷🏻♂️
But it also makes it more normal and accepted to open your relationship up and be honest with each other.

I recommend. Starting with socials. And listen to the podcast named Sexless Swingers.

"Feel like it’s just a platform for spicy couples who do content to be able to market themselves and advertise their platforms rather than just everyday swingers"
Very much this.
One of the women was on First Dates recently |

I hadn't seen the programme but after reading this watched an episode on Catch-up earlier. A mixture of laughter and cynicism was my reaction. As those couples involved put themselves in that position it's difficult to expect any other outcome. |

It’s a terrible advert for swinging/ENM. Pretty much every couple in the latest series the dynamic was one sided and unethically approached. Apart from the gay guys every one else has OnlyFans and or already been involved in swinging and went in for exposure rather then a genuine experience. It had the potential to really shine a light on ENM but they decided to go down the trashy tv route. |

Series 1 and 2 were good. We've been on the scene for years but found the advice from Dr Lori useful for us and the scenarios are believable.
Series 3 is absolutely dreadful. Forcing newbies to play separately, awful advice from the therapist, fostering conflict to get more views |

We agree with this. The new therapist's solution to everything seems to be to get every couple to play separately, when that is a far more advanced stage of a swinging journey, IMHO. 'Don't run before you can walk' and all that. |

As someone who has "starred" in a "reality" tv show, I can tell you very little is real.
Pre-selection interviews are used to get as much information as possible. This is then used to create situations for the camera.
Most of the situations are about as real as the boobs.
Watch it for a laugh but go to a club for reallity. And I don't mean the club that appeared on tv a couple of times.
Swinging is great fun. The more honest and realistic you are the better it is.
Go to a social or group meet and see what real swingers are like. Then follow your ..... libido.
