Exactly as above.
We would like to think it filters out the knuckle draggers from messaging.
If you can't have a fun, intellectual conversation with us then nothing will happen.

"Hi,
I'm just curious, when I come across profiles that say; We are a professional couple, what exactly do you mean by that? Just wondering....
Thanks
professional At what
Their work."
Hopefully we are all good at our jobs
So as a courier would I call myself a
Blue collar worker? |

They put a premium upon what they do and I'd be worried that they're going to bang on about it as if I care or try to play who's got the best sounding job top trumps, should I meet them. |

You can call yourself what you want
I have a friend who classes herself as a 'professional cleaner'. |

Yes, a professional cleaner is just one that gets paid for their cleaning. The word professional gets used too liberally these days. I think most mean that they actually have a job.
ps. Nice new profile pic by the way. |

Canary Islands, |
Right ok, that clears that one up lol
I've just not noticed it on my Dutch swingers site, and not sure when you can actually say for yourself that you are a professional, unless you're a actual professor or made it to the national team.
Am I a professional BBW admirer with about 35 years experience? Lol
Thanks |

"I think I will just have to keep to
Amateur
So anyone looking for an Amateur can get in touch with a nice email "
We are al amateurs on here due to the fact that a professional would want paying for their services which is strictly forbidden on this site. |

I think the meaning of words changes over time. Fabulous, fantastic, awesome, sick, cool. 100 years ago were used very differently |

Should we introduce a new status - Pre million and post million?
Or....the background in my pics shows a clean and tidy house or....the background in my pics shows washing out, toys everywhere and paint peeling? |

For us it means we take our careers seriously and inadvertently means we won't be able to meet at the drop of a hat.
I think it also does a reasonable job of filtering out some of the "fancy a shag" messages which do get sent. |

Some jobs make it difficult to openly share face pics, etc. The 'we are all here for same reason' argument doesn't hold water if you run the risk of possible repercussions or action from employers, both of which could have easily happened to me in a past job (though not these days).
So sometimes I think it's people marking themselves out as extra careful and considered. Though I'm sure a lot of people in other walks of life also follow that way of doing things.

"It means if you’re upset by such a simple statement (that many people do understand) then you wouldn’t be right for us "
It wasn't upsetting, just wondering what it meant, nothing more, i understand and respect it. |

It simply means that they have had certain life experiences on their way to their professional qualifications and would like to meet (though not exclusively) people with shared experiences.
People are soon ready to wear their inverted snobbery on their sleeve, though those same people would insist they should be treated by professional doctors, dentists, or surgeons, or helped by professional lawyers etc |

I won't meet 'professional' no matter the offer or how good they looked. Just sounds like snobs. My job is a profession which I've taken a few years to learn. I'll not consider myself professional. These people just like to look down on anyone they can at every given opportunity |

Aren't you the one looking down on people by being so dismissive? |

I think it's quite subjective.
I'd say it means doctors, teachers, solicitors ie anyone who is registered with a body.
For others it's that they work in a smart office and wear a suit.
It's never bothered me on a profile, unless that's all it says. |

,........a sudden rush for people to put "professional" on their profile. Not many like a bigot. |

I have always thought it assumed a certain level of income and education. Perhaps it makes more sense to someone my age (70's) as it was better understood in the past which careers were counted as professional and we didn't have to use the word itself; we just knew. |

It used to be related to the level of professional qualification.
If you can sign a passport application, you’re a professional.
Think Doctor, Lawyer, that sort of stuff
In the world of Fab it’s code for ‘we don’t think we’re oiks’ |

On Fab, professional has an entirely different meaning to the real world. It's simply a code for mild snobbery on here - we will only meet people we deem to be of a certain class. Fair enough if that's what you think, that's fine, but some of the the most mind numbingy dull and stupid people as well as some really disgusting manky slobs are also professional - it's not a given that they are decent people. It does make sense that people look for others that they would be comfortable around though, so in a social meet thats fine.
It goes completely out the window in other situations though. I dont go dogging, but I can't imagine a stunner being turned away from a clandestine layby due to rocking up in a 10 year old Corsa. If you're in a club, sex is sex - you dont tend to ask someone to give you their full CV when you're being pummelled on a gangbang bed. |

I've never cared what someone does for work.
Job doesn't actually always equal intelligence, here for me common sense, emotional literacy and having a social filter are far more important than a job. |

Professional can sometimes be used to denote the level of discretion they would like.
If they haven’t got face pics on can sometimes mean Police, Teachers, known on Local Business scene.
Could just be snobbish “we got a nice house no riff raff please”.
But that’s why clubs will always remain best places to socialise in the lifestyle, when you are down to your undies and all you have to impress is your personality it’s a leveller. |

The most boring conversation starter I can be asked is “how is business?/how is work?”. It’s also a question I don’t ask others.
I couldn’t give a toss what you have done to be paid. I’m more interested in what you have done in the hours that you aren’t in your job. |
