Depending on the context of those messages and whether the attraction is there or not. Not being read is possibly due to the influx of messages your recipients get. As a single guy (which I have been) is hard.

Don’t forget when you receive a message most can see the opening couple of lines. If that and profile pic doesn’t grab their attention they are unlikely to bother opening the message.
