Hello all,
First post so please be gentle
What are the reasons why some specify a cut off age IE "looking for whatever up to 40" for example.
Whereas I have no problem or issue with this, we all have the right to choose after all, I am curious as to how and why such an age is chosen and what the general feeling is to those who still make contact when outside that age range, I say range as this can also be applied to a lower age limit.
Looking forward to hearing you reasons and stories.

For many, it's to do with the age of their children & parents. They wouldn't fuck anyone the same age or younger than their children or the same age or older than their parents. |

My lower age limit is set at 48.
For me it is what I'm comfortable with.
Mind you the last couple of meets have been a little younger but not by much.
I do say on my profile that anyone under the age limits will be deleted and not answered. |

some people dont want to meet people old enough to be their mum or dad...
some people dont want to meet people your enough to be their son or daughter...
if suppose it is a case of meeting people either you have a fantasy of meeting.... or thinking that you make have some sort of connection with in relation to life skills
mind you i know 20 yr olds who are going on 50..... and 40yr olds who act like 12 |

I wouldn't want to fuck an 80 year old so I clearly need an upper age limit.
So how about 79? Is 79 that much different from 80? If 79 is like 80, then how about 78 because that's not much different to 79...
You could go on like that right the way down to 18. There's never going to be a clear cut-off point.
I could give a long, drawn out explanation but basically my age limits are slightly arbitrary cut-off points that I've decided represents the limits at which I am more likely than not to not be attracted to someone.
Even at the upper reaches within my limit the probability of someone appealing to me is lower than the average.
There are a few particularly well preserved 50-somethings I'd meet, but very, very few.
If someone significantly outside of my age range messages me, I am annoyed they've ignored my preferences. I delete the message and block them. If they don't even respect my basic preferences, what else might they disregard? |

Ours are +/- 10 years, but they are soft limits or a guide to what we are looking for. We dont mind anyone contacting us, but if you are 25 years plus, then dont get your hopes up. |

The lower age limit is our eldest child's upper range for a boyfriend (if that makes sense). The upper limit is more flexible if the guy is fit but not by much.
However, it's more important to not be fat and to have hair on the head  |

I didn't have any real age range when I started here, but I've got a preferred age range now and that works pretty well. It's just what works well for you really. Mine allows me to meet the younger men that I prefer and as an added extra benefit it helps reduce the amount of messages I receive. If I see someone outside of that range that I think might be interesting and interested in me, then I'll wink or message them. |

my eldest is 26 as i was cought young lol i have had a lady younger than him but she was very mature and for me its maturity tbh i do like around my age but i have come across a stunning lady in her late 60s that would pass for 30 easy like said above lower limit is really to stop the mundane search and inbox messages easier |

I've heard the perv rule is half your age plus 7 for youngest and oldest is your age minus 7 multiplied by 2.
Eg. Im 30 so: 30/2 +7 = 22
(30-7)*2 = 46
Therefore my age range would by 22-46 for the most agreeable pairings.
However In reality I'm open to all ages over 18 dependent on their personality.

Thanks for all the responses, I can understand the "not wanting to shag someone as young as my kids or as old as my parents" and of course just personal preferences, also there is no need to justify yourself to anyone, it's just a question born out of curiosity.
I guess for me the main reason for the question is that, as a 47 year old, I consider my-self to have a younger outlook on life but with the benefit of experience, good and bad, even though my body wouldn't necessarily convey this! So when someone says they only want to meet up to say a 40 yo, are they perhaps being a little short sited?
There's no right or wrong here, just opinions and preferences, it just interests me and sometimes frustrates the hell out of me  |

We use age as an extra filter to cut down the messages we get. If someone over the age of our filters looks like what we want we conduct an approach ourself.
People can have a young outlook all they want but if that's not a quality they are looking for then there is nothing you can do about it. |

Our age limit is about being able to identify with each other, if the age gap is too big it's hard to have a comfortable coversation, which is important for us. Also, if the person is over our age limit, but is attractive, then that's a different issue. :P |

Originally when we joined fab we had our upper age limit as something like 45, then the first couple we played with in a club turned out to be older than our limit! It showed me that it's not about age it's about how well you look after yourself and your attitude. We have increased our limit now but I think that's as far as I will go...for now...
I'm 27 and my other half is 42, I have always gone for older men but as a rule I wouldn't go out of my way to look for an older bloke but my partner spends 6 days a week in the gym and plays sports throughout the week, he looks after himself eating healthily and his grooming is impeccable without being feminine(!) plus he's kind and funny - age is nothing but a number, it's what you do with it that matters |

I have an age limit mainly to stop younger guys from contacting me as all of them apart from one (and there have been quite a lot) have just acted very immature when I have said I wasn't interested. Sorry guys but life is too short to keep having to deal with children's hissy fits when then get told no.
My older limit is just a number I picked out because I find that I'm not attracted to guys older than that age? Although I do change it every now and again. |
