So did we establish what the acceptable phrase was for a fuck buddy then?
I asked him if he minded that I referred to him as that and he said no.. that's what I call you!
So what are the alternatives? |

I Don't really have friends with benefits... as I think being friends means they are not on my sexual menu.
I call the guys we meet either playmate's or toys.

The term ‘friends with benefits’ sends shudders down my spine.
To me it implies “we are friends first and foremost and if we happen to have sex at some point down the line it is a bonus”… it implies that because - that’s what I have seen so many people who use FWB describe it as… usually the same type of people who say “I value you too much as a friend to have sex with you and spoil it” *barfffffff*
Whilst they are only words, the order of the words is important as it changes the emphasis. If people don’t like the word ‘fuck’ they could have changed it to bed-buddies, bonking-buddies, bouncing-buddies… all imply the sexual element being the reason for the friendship… rather than the friendship being the priority and sex a possibility ‘benefit’ at some point.
On other sites I have found the term FWB used by people with underlying judgemental sex related hang-ups… often the type of person who still has the word ‘slag’ in their active vocabulary and many having lower self-confidence, limited social contact outside of family and basically revolving their life around the website.
Of course this is a generalisation as some people pick up the term thinking it’s just the phrase used around these parts and adopt it in order to fit in.
Thankfully this site hasn't been swamped by the use of it. |

Interesting... my friends are my friends. My friends with benefits are just that... people I fuck who I happen to be mates with too but the fucking came first.
The play mate expression is a bit too child like for me. I had play mates when I was at nursery.
I think I'll just keep being "cheap and nasty" and stick with my fuck buddy. He doesn't mind it and neither do I so I guess that's really all that matters.
