Rachael I quite agree. Once you become a swinger you can never go back to monogamy.
The stimulation of enjoying different people and trying new things is too pleasurable to give up. |

Not necessarily.
It depends a lot on the individual and why they started swinging.
I think it's time to stop when you've done 'everything', what is there really, after that? It's just habit after a certain point - and habits can be broken. |

That sounds as if swinging is just a tick list of things to try. We've pretty much done 'everything'. We have no desire to stop, despite there being nothing new that we want to do, because we enjoy what we do and couldn't get that enjoyment in a monogamous relationship. |

I think it's more about attitudes.
If I went back to vanilla, I'd feel like putting on the twin set and pearls and thinking blow jobs were disgusting! I'd fit right back in with my friends and colleagues then!

If I met someone and fell in love then I'd give up the actual swinging part if it wasn't something he wanted to do but I wouldn't give up the friends I've made or hanging out here.
The prospect of monogamy doesn't faze me but I've changed over the years because the thought of being with one person forever used to scare the living shit out of me. I'm still a commitment phobe so I have my doubts it'll happen but I wouldn't rule it out. |

I tend to agree with the OP, once this world has been opened up to you I,d feel like I was missing out on something by stopping it, so any potential relationship that may come along is going to have to accommodate for swinging in it  |

This is a big fraternity society. Very addictive alternative lifestyle with merit and demerit.the only way you can dispense with swinging is when you meet someone of the same wavelength sexually..If not you kidding yourself.. Some couples split up because of swinging either the female or the male refuse to quit swinging . swinging also kept some people marriage rock solid |

I could stop tomorrow if I wanted. Same with Marc. And I don't rule that out. In fact, if we ever go back to the US, the chances of us continuing to do this are slim, I think.

The big bang theory is running with a story line that Leonard and penny might divorce because Leonard kissed another woman! We normally love the show but my goodness was that story line lame / impossible to relate to.
We were like: "how about a real predicament like Leonard and penny normally only do same-room swap but they tried separate rooms for a change. They promised each other they'd play safe, but in the heat on the moment penny decided to go bareback and now she's pregnant from the swap- now that would be a real problem everyone can relate to |

I now want a relationship with a primary partner but they'd have to be open to us swinging.
