With the right intonation and context it can have a very powerful effect. It is a very very harsh word and knowing how and when to use it is key. Obviously for some people it is a huge no but in my experience if there is no objection to its use from your partner it's amazing what you can do with it |

As an American this thread is interesting.
To American ladies the word "cunt" is generally taken as bad in any use. Probably because we also use it to refer to women who are so cruel that they make "being a bitch" into an art form.
Oddly "fanny" is apparently pretty offensive in the UK, but to us it refers to her arse, not her pussy. And it's a word our kids are allowed to use to describe their bum when they've fallen down on it.
