Morning all! Have a question which probably doesnt fit in on here but im gonna ask anyway! Lol

Im cooking a 2.5kg top rump beef joint today and wanted to cook it slow in the oven so its nice and tender!

My question is, at what temp do you set the oven and for how long?

Slow cookers are great - if you haven’t got one then think about getting one

Line the roasting tray with onions and vegetables.

Seasoned joint on top.

Cover.

Roast at 130c for 6-8 as desired.

Use juices as stock for your gravy.

Boom!

Iceland, but Aldi is closer..

make sure you keep basting or have lots of fat on the meat, lard is best otherwise the meat will go dry as the juices come out of the meat.

brisket is best for long and slow, rump is best cooked high and quick.

Place beef in a deep roasting tin and marinade in red wine, black pepper, onions, mustard, pinch of horseradish and quarter of a pint of beef stock and cover with foil. Then cook on 150 until done. Bon appetite

Use a slow cooker set on low lightly grease the bottom to prevent sticking no other liquids. Lightly oil the top to prevent burning add seasoning.

Mustard is my choice.

With no liquid it roasts rather than boils.

4hr max slice imediately or it will continue to cook.

If you find it too pink you can always heat it up ect. Better than overcooking and ruining it

its the ideal place to ask, which is why people often do..google is fine, but the ideas from a whole bunch of people at once is often just as good if not better

Standard for beef if you want it medium rare is 20 minutes per lb plus 20 minutes @ 180c

So for 2.5kgs that’s 1hr 20.

If you want to slow cook it, drop the temp & up the time, but as someone pointed out above, rump is best cooked quickly & brisket for a slow cook.

We had a similar joint on Boxing Day, beef is my fave by far!! Making me hungry now!!
