To be clear, a slut is a female who has many sexual partners for pleasure. A whore is fundamentally different because they give sex to many partners in exchange for something (e.g. money). Also to be clear, I don't give a fuck if those terms offend you.
It's quite interesting to speculate why there are any sluts at all. Most women have a degree of whoredom about them, the obvious reason being the enormous evolutionary advantage to it. There's minimal evolutionary benefit to being a prude... but also not one to being a slut that I can think of. For women that is, the majority of men are sluts.
However, there is some interesting research that shows the female brain has higher plasticity than the male brain. This essentially means that females adapt to their enviornment quicker and better than men, on average. This makes sense from an evolutionary standpoint since early human groups were male philopatric, so there's a big advantage to women adapting well.
There was also a fun experiment where male and female lambs were raised with goats. As adults, the female sheep were up for nookie with goats and sheep. Whilst the males were only interested in goats. Once again, suggesting more adaptability.
So I'd guess most the women in couples here had /have a husband who encouraged and nurtured their sexuality, assured them that it was ok to experience it to the maximum. The women who were always that way, as long as they remember, fascinate me though. |

It's quite a loaded term (Nymphomania) as it implies that this is a women's only issue -much like "hysteria" -both of which have origins in Greek myths and focus on female issues rather than seeing it as a condition common to both sexes -imho it is far better to refer to it as hypersexuality |

It's like nature in the sense of the survival of the fittest. A lot of animals etc only let the strongest/ alpha mate.

The idea of basic sexual need isn’t applicable, male or female when applied to human beings in the 21st century. There is an argument that having children remains a basic, deep rooted need but we are still able to separate that from the act of sex for no reason other than it feels good.
It’s also not accurate that women have more of an emotional reaction to sex. There are many studies that seem to suggest the emotions of men/women/trans are very similar where the act of sex is concerned.
The terms you use to describe female sexual behaviour are emotive and whilst I’m not offended I’ve always rather thought that women who embrace their sexuality have found themselves labelled, and the labels aren’t pretty. Men on the other hand have gotten away with some fairly romantic descriptions.

The acting out on it would be the addiction. It's a clinical diagnosis but the scientists don't have the answer. Society's view has changed but I can't see it changing too much for a while. |

I think you dispose of ~3 billion years worth of evolution too quickly! If you want to understand how natural selection works then it's just as valid to look at fruit flies as it humans.
Our behaviours are still hugely driven by genes, even if our environment has changed massively in the last 8,000 years. You still get massive differences between the sexes that can be explained this way, such as prisons being ~95% male. Our culture isn't remotely close to catching up with the implications of the birth control revolution so our genes will be a long way behind that.

* "Survival of the fittest" does NOT mean strongest/biggest/most aggressive." Reading Darwin really helps if you're going to quote him. Fittest meant/means most adaptive, the most fitted for survival is the organism that can adapt to change (e.g. An Ice Age) most readily.
And no, that doesn't seem to have much to do with this thread, but as the original poster doesn't mind if anyone is offended then I don't mind saying that the entire premise seems the most chikdish playground name calling of a kind I've had the pleasure of not hearing since I was about 14. |
