Is it just me or is there hardly any TS on this site ...?
most claim to be it end up being a CD/TV.
oh and CD is the same for TV right... just a different letters,going from how it is on fab |

Yes, for me the following;
Crossdressing, wearing the clothing of the opposite sex, male or female. Not necessarily wanting to look like the opposite sex.
Transvestite, tries to look as convincing as possible as the opposite sex, no interest in changing sex.
Transexual, born in the wrong body, doesn't in all cases transition.

Not that simple, I have met some TVs who hardly ever go out, but who look totally convincing as female.
As for clothing it depends on the situation, if I am meeting friends in a pub, my choice of clothes is very different to when I am meeting in private.

Lols. I call myself a tgirl as for me it goes a lot deeper than just what clothes I wear. I am though to all intents a transvestite, as I have no intention of taking hormones or having surgery. I don't even care if people call me he or she.
Telling the difference by what clothes people wear though ... if I'm going to work or visiting my mother then I'll wear something "normal". If I'm going out dancing or on a date then I'll be wearing something hot. I don't think it tells anyone anything about how I self identify.

Not that simple, I have met some TVs who hardly ever go out, but who look totally convincing as female.
As for clothing it depends on the situation, if I am meeting friends in a pub, my choice of clothes is very different to when I am meeting in private.

Seems like everyone defines things in different ways. But the main this seems, why are TV and TS grouped as the same option on here? Maybe fab should update that..:

The options for ticking boxes here when setting up a profile are very limited.
Which is fine, that doesn't bother me but anyone who chooses meets based on a few limited search terms, rather than reading a profile and getting to know someone a bit before deciding to meet, only have themselves to blame imo. |

I'd always understood Trans(Latin) translates to 'across' and Vesti/vestire(Latin) to 'dress' or 'clothe' so transvestite is cross-dress, as a near translation so the OP has it somewhere close. That's not gender specific so we must have male barmaid/prostitutes and female barman/prostitutes mmmm... just to confuse you more. All this is a bit 'same old' plus I hate labels.

Stepping away from the previous arguments, in my opinion, I would say a TS is someone who was born in the wrong body. They may or may not surgically transition but I don't think they would necessarily have a sexual motive for doing so,and as such would probably not automatically gravitate to this site? |

There may need to be more categories enabling people to define themselves with clarity on sites.
Tv/Ts is ok but a bit confusing.
Or may be ditch all labels, as some people disguise themselve with it.
Males having a female profile for example, a bit devious always, a bone of contention.
I consider myself an androgynous person, gender fluid. AP and GF two more letter titles to confuse you. I prefer a female look and persona, that makes me feel sexy too.
Hopefully my likes on my profile give the correct impression.

The real answer is of course that you cannot pigeonhole people into just three categories.
It's a spectrum. In fact many spectrums that overlap. And every girl has different reasons, motivations, start points and end goals and restrictions. And they can change at any time.
As soon as everyone realises that how a genetic female and a generic male should look and act and love are all artificial products of society that don't actually exist , the sooner everyone can get on with it without hate and prejudice.

After being on fab for a while I have found an interest into trans/cd. I am highly attracted to the dress code which really turns me in. I know there’s a lot of question about straight guys and trans. And to be honest I have been sucked by trans/cd and enjoyed it and also have sucked a dick before to experience . I have the urge to touch but can only do this with trans.
Does this mean I’m not straight? I’m really consider and question myself. Some advice will be great. |

Not too sure that dress code you refer to? Some TVs dress quite outrageously, others are very toned down and dress like normal everyday women

I tend to refer to myself as a trans woman. No hormones, no surgery, no intention. Not even full time female. But definitely not just a casual crossdresser doing it as a kink. I think the real distinction lies within the brain/mind/ego/id/self-identity/soul - call it what you will. For me, being female feels natural, being male feels awkward.
I have worked extensively with trans support organisations in the past, where although there are no hard and fast fixed definitions of terms, there is some level of general concordance that:
TG = trans gender = umbrella term covering all who to a greater or lesser extent have gender variant identity.
TS = trans sexual = those who are somewhere along the medical/legal pathway of gender transition. This may include some or all of hormone treatment, a range of different surgical procedures, legal name change, full time living in the preferred gender, public declaration of identity, legal acknowledgement of gender.
TV = trans vestite = literally a person who wears clothing of the opposite gender. Much the same as CD = cross dresser, although some regard these as slightly different stages of intention and gender identity. There is no common agreement which of these is the "more trans".
As well as these, we also have BiG = bi gendered (sometimes male identifying, sometimes female); GF = gender fluid (not identifying wholely as male or female, but some changing proportion of both); NG = non gendered, stepping outside the whole male/female dichotomy; QG = queer gendered, neither male nor female but "other". And other terms continually coming in and out of fashion.

Good summary Polly - I refer to myself as a TV with no desire or need to seek gender transition. For me I'm either fully male in presentation or fully female in presentation and never mix the two. I'm happy with either so lucky in that respect, many are not and pursue the difficult pathway to full transition if they can.

Well I’ve been called a hairy panty wearer, I’ve been told to stop being something I’m not etc all on this site.
I don’t know what I’d define myself as. I don’t want surgery etc (would love a set of tits for the day tho lol)! I just know that it makes me feel liberated, sexy and I enjoy it so much. Even I don't know what I am so I can't expect anybody else to.
In normal life I'm a normal guy in a man's job. Living on my own with no immediate family.
But I love dressing in ladies clothes, I sometimes dress when I'm at home although not often at the moment. I absolutely love dressing for sex and meeting somebody, I drive and go out in large towns and it thrills me.
I do my best with nice clothes, wigs, fake tits and taking ages applying make up. I try to look as much as a lady as possible but I know I'm definitely a man and proud of it?? |

Love the input on this this thread with people says what they feel they are as thats what its all about. Labels can be so limiting and predetermined. Even though im not Trans the way i dress doesnt determine me and neither should it determine anyone. We are all individuals and should embrace and love that about ourselves and others. |

A cross dresser CD isn’t particularly interested in trying to pass as a woman, they just have a fetish for wearing girls clothes, lingerie, heels maybe even some makeup and a wig.

This seems to be fairly important to most TVs
Transsexual TS; might refer to someone who has had breast augmentation, is on hormones, has her own long hair and is living as a woman except for the genetalia. Transsexuals don’t necessarily want to have a vagina or haven’t got to that stage yet.
Transgender TG; refers to someone who has had a medical procedure to have a vagina.
*This obviously doesn’t include FTMs*
This also has a lot to do from everything to do with sexual kink/fetish, right up to gender identity and gender dysmorphia. It can be quite complex. Not to mention societal limitations and cultural limitations and stigma.
The idea that gender identity, like sexuality, is binary, is largely considered to be an outdated idea.
Most educated (by this I don’t mean someone who has a PHD in this field, but someone who has made some effort to think and educate themselves) people are able to have a degree of understanding when it comes to this topic just because it’s the human thing to do.

Although I consider myself a CD, this is largely due to my circumstances which don’t allow me to dress often and when I do, I tend to inevitably meet and have sex with a guy.
It’s an extension of my sexual expression and not really something that dictates my life or my identity.
Apologies if I have made an error with the way I interpret this in my previous post. It’s just my understanding from reading up on it and talking to other girls. |

Just allow people to be whoever or whatever they are.
Some people embrace their inner sense of self and find true happiness in it.
Other people struggle to find their inner sense of self and can be consumed by unhappiness.
Threads like this can perpetuate stereotypes. Some can perceive that either as validation or invalidation of their own experience.
I say just crack on. So long as it harms no-one else it's no-one else's business but yours.
