Previous posts have people asking for good/bad hotel reports so here is a starter please add your own hotel experiences.

Carona Roja: basic hotel, rooms very clean and facilities adequate, a bit of a walk to Kasbah etc (10 mins), very cheap and definately value for money

Riu group have a few hotels in the area and they are of a good standard. Riu Papaya, Riu Waikik Don Miguel. They also have apartments in the Riu Flamingo that are great.

We have stayed at Los Aguacates its cheap and clean but wouldn't go back, The Bungalows at the Parquemar are good but some are to close to the busy bypass. My friend stayed at RUI Don Miguel and raved about it, Its adults only they say its more like a 4 star ,So that's where we are going next time

Gran Canaria

Before moving here permanent I used VistaFlor a few times. Nice bungalow ok facilities nice complex I do feel its a little expensive but you can choose all in or self catering. It's a good 25 min walk to Cita or la Sandia or San Fernando for shopping and about 45 min walk via Maspalomas faro to beach 4. Or as always there is plenty of taxis about (taxi fares increased in Nov the clock now starts at €2.40) but on average will cost between 3 or 4 euro to most places within PDI.

*This time of year place is almost always full as are most others.

Apartments Las Dalias.

Small complex in the residential area, Calle Roma. Spacious, clean, well equiped apartments, nice quite pool area and only 5mins from Cita/Beach.

Worth a look if you prefer small & friendly to mass hoards !

Reasonably priced too !

IFA Faro is a very good hotel, spotless and great facilities . You can't get any closer to the beach or dunes.

The sun terrace on the roof is perfect to get an all over tan. Very little wind and no sand wiping around.

We stayed at the Lopesan Costa Meloneras, Jan and July last year. Very nice hotel, exceptionally clean & surprisingly good food. Only 5mins walk to Maspalomas beach. 5 mins walk to the 19th Hole with decent food and live music. Our only issue with this hotel is the cost appears to vary massively depending on dates.

Hiya we have found the Neptune hotel is lovely and so is the Barcello Margaritas, we have stayed in both a few times and always found the staff very friendly and helpful and the hotels very clean. Can also verify all the good things other sexy people have said about the Caterina. Red Carlos is also nice and central and nice and clean etc although it is a wee bit dated and the food not that great. Our favourite apartments have been the Todoque bungalows and the Liberty Apartments which were central and roomy and very clean, also but found La Mirage to be simply superb since it was recommend to us by our very good friends. xx
