The Crown on Hatfield Road (the St Alban's end) had a function room that I know is used for socials in another online community. It's open to be and has windows so very much a social meet location not anything more before anyone gets odd ideas |

Near Stortford. A few years back used to a run a local chat group covering Herts and arranged pub socials. Herts is a funny place being so spread out and close to London but lots and lots of fun people |

PS socials we arranged tended to have a male shortage. Usually all keen but cancelled last minute. Think we had one with more ladies than men.
I’d advise anyway wanting to arrange one to just go for it and pick a date and venue and advertise. These things don’t tend to get organised by committee/forum chat very well. |

Ok...to test the water, how about:-
7.30pm, Thursday 22nd February, in the huge 'Spoons in Hatfield, across from the Galleria? I think it is called Harpsfield Hall.
It's fairly close to transport links, there is car parking onsite and there's a Travelodge across the road if folk wish to stay over for whatever reason .
Any interest?

Great that somebody is trying to organise but think a few things that could do to make it work, especially if you want to attract ladies and couples.
1. Relying on this thread on Forum not enough. Create a thread in the meets/socials section, create meet event, stick on profile status, etc. Encourage others to do the same. Remember the vast majority of people on Fab never look at the Forum.
2. Don't disclose the venue publicly. Yes pick the town but and perhaps even let a few people know privately but don't disclose exact details until just before. As it stands anybody here could tell all their mates off site and could end up with anybody coming along and also somebody who wants to cause trouble flagging it with owners. I know nothing wrong with swingers meeting but lots of people want some discretion and privacy (especially ladies and couples).
3. Managed the guest list in some rather than a free for all. For example only allow a certain m/f ratio and only invite single men when got couples or ladies. Doesn't have to be 1 to 1 but not 10 to 1 either. Perhaps restrict to people with veris or Fab verified.
Hope that is taken as constructive from somebody who has organised quite a few things and not criticism. It's great that somebody has taken the initiative and trying to make it happen. Wish more people around like this. |

Lol no I’m not . I just don’t have the time at the moment and would struggle to commit 100% to a date in the next month or two. I was going to keep quiet and perhaps attend but then saw the emerging sausage fest Happy to help from the sidelines and could well attend with my lady friend in the end.
