To be honest no one knows..

Think the story was captured duing a raid and sold into private owner whi h begins with S..was a major cause of the American Civil war and cannot be used in forum.

Being taken in by a Christian family..who gave him freedom..as a thank you took their religion and looked to spread the word.

But these are the dark ages..and the wallesesia as the saxons referred to wasn't just what is modern Wales but also rheged(today's Cumbria) and strathclyde(the celtic non pictish) part of Scotland.

Which is the nearest part of UK to Ireland...(in particular Downpatrick).
