Was this partly due to a virus?

What's the usual, average, customs clearance?

Only nosy-ing as I've got flights booked to Orlando

I was lucky when landed in jfk was about 20mins but bombed it to customs because not long after we got there it filled up and the people at the back must have been waiting hours

Afraid it’s normal to wait for hours unless you are megga lucky but this was a record wait so much so as we have now decided unless they sort it out we won’t be coming back

Admitted, I was worried about this. Getting off the plane after 10 hours and then being stuck in some hallway

Fingers crossed we get through in good time

The Florida area customs and border protection agencies are very quick about their business. Obviously were dealing with millions of travelers a year, and they won't let business suffer. As for California, you have to have a permit for everything. Soon it will be one to breathe the air. California is a lost cause.

West Yorkshire

Flown into LAX twice recently - first time we were out collecting our bags within the hour and the second time it was 90 minutes all in.

Regularly fly into the US and to be honest customs clearance has been getting better. Still have good and bad days but on the whole not as bad as it was.

As long as you complete all your advanced information before flying and your on a returning ESTA the machines work in your favour.

Still can be down to how many aircraft have landed at the same time.

Don't let it put you off going.

Did you mean Jan?

I flew in and out of LAX the week before and had no issues.
