Who will miss lockdown?

I was speaking with a friend who lives in the New Forest, Hampshire. She told me that during lockdown she had known peace and quiet like never before. The forest animals seemed more prolific and happy, the skies were clear of planes, the sea was cleaner, the roads quieter and cleaner. She told me that in just a few days that local beauty spots and beaches were now heaving and full of traffic, bad tempered people and discarded garbage.

Yes. I worked straight through and the drive to work was a joy.
I live out in the sticks and sitting out in the evenings was lovely and peaceful. Now the traffic noise is noticeable again.
Also saved a fair amount of money and got loads of stuff done in the fields and house.
I won’t be losing sleep over a second lockdown. |

No,glad to be back at work .
Hated being on furlough.
The good weather being an added bonus as I am a roofer.
I am appreciative of the furlough scheme but i had to get earning proper money, not just 80% of my basic wage. |

Absaloutly loved lock down been nicer pace of life been working stupid amount of hours so plenty of over time the roads were empty driving was actually enjoyable only thing I haven't liked is the selfishness that lock down seems to have brought out in a lot of people. |

Mixed blessings....much cleaner and quieter environment. Loads of time to tend my allotment and really reaping the benefits. Been okay money wise thanks to Rishi.
Have missed pub quizzes and eating out....hopefully with safety restrictions can start again (maybe not quizzing?). Also back to work next month... |

Ive enjoyed many aspects of the lockdown, including reductions of several things, like the noise levels and travel chaos, cleaner air is a bonus, though there are many things I'll be glad to get rid of at some point, as I dislike shopping and have disliked the queues, limited availability of products, selfish, pushy shoppers and limited hours. Supermarkets seem to have really benefited - unlike the staff - with few staff, shorter opening hours, ready customers spending more etc. I'm glad my local tesco express is now open normal hours, longer than the former 24/7 big store nearby, which I don't visit due to mad queues.
Obviously the high risk issues from the illness will not be missed.
Peaceful solitude has had some benefits but I've disliked the lack of socialising and sex, as someone who is single. |

Lock down hasnt really impacted us much at all, work has been normal for us and some of the other bits have been a positive for us aswell, it meant I saved loads of money not going out, roads much clearer, local fair being cancelled (causes major road and parking issues every year lol) mrs didn't like not being able to go see her family/friends and the amount of aggressive customers seemed to double because of distancing rules which was a pain in the ass to deal with. |

I've really enjoyed the extra time with my daughter even though she's found it quite difficult and stressful. I've been grateful we've had a garden, albeit a small one, to take advantage of the nice weather.
I've missed my friends and the club alot and I can't wait until things get back to normal but it's given me some mental clarity, almost like life has been paused for awhile. I'm sure I'll miss it once it's over but I'm looking forward to seeing friends and family and getting my social life back.  |

I have been back at work for 2 weeks now and miss the slightly more relaxed lockdown, for sure... The beginning, where I daren't go out, except to shop and turned to mush, physically and mentally, not so much  |

I can honestly say, I've not been happier or more relaxed in years. I've made big decisions about how my life will be after lockdown is completely lifted.
I want to continue to be home more, keep strangers 2 meters away, not spend so much money eating out and generally have more me time without feeling guilty. |

I love my lockdown; working from home (part time worker so only 3 days a week). Cycle rides, walks and plenty of time to Potter away in my shed... Pure bliss!!!!
I could do this forever. I know that it's been tough for a lot of people but for me it's introduced me to a better, more enjoyable way of life. |

People who will miss lockdown must have empty lives to begin with. People who are happy to not see friends and family for long periods of time must have something wrong with them.
A lot of people with mental illness are also enjoying it as they are not having to deal with the pressures of every day life (mainly - work)
As someone who has had to work throughout lockdown and is unable to see any of the people important to me, never mind being able to do anything to relieve stress , it is frankly selfish people who say they wish lockdown continues - you are perfectly entitled to isolate yourself from society but stop imposing it on others with the expectation that we will continue to work to ensure your lazy lifestyle is upheld is frankly absurd. |

I've had a pretty eventful lockdown to be honest. Done a tonne of gardening and managed to get a few other odd jobs done. Aside from that all I've done is chill out and drink, I'm sort of glad I'm going back to work this week but part of me will miss the lazy days, having little to nothing to do |

The 80% is nothing to complain about, should be gratefull! In some other businesses, people have lost their jobs and some small businesses have had to shut down. What about those on zero hours contracts? - they couldn't get furlough!

I will miss lock down because the environment faired better then as per the original posting. The air was cleaner and people took to walking and cycling than using cars.
Communities, streets and neighbours supported each other and there was a good faith, alot of postive things going on in the face of adversity and national crisis.
Look at what we achieved and learned during lockdown and think to ourselves what are we missing that's worth rushing back for? Other than family, there is nothing I can think of that's worth rushing back for so we all need to take caution, be more sensible and continue supporting others who need it like we did during lockdown. What happened on Bournemouth Beach and later Liverpool, is a complete reversal of behavior and standards. If lifting lockdown means behavior akin to what we saw in Bournemouth, bring it back because the second wave is inevitable and Covid is still very much here. We cannot party becasue the virus remains. |

Why do people seem to think that anyone not cramming their lives full of stuff and nonsense have unfulfilled lives?
I have no children and haven't heard anything from my family in decades.
I am particular about who I make friends with but value the few I have enormously.
Most of my adult life has been spent supporting those who have been unable to cope with the 'normality' that society seeks to impose on them, either from a distance or tidying up the bloody aftermath.
This has been time on the naughty step for humanity, but we won't learn from it.
Is it any wonder that some people won't miss it..?

You don't have to insult people for having a different view to you. I will miss certain things about lockdown, that doesn't make me lazy, selfish or mean that I have an empty life. What it does mean is that although lockdown has been rough for alot of people, some of us have tried to make the best of a crappy situation. Your comments were totally unnecessary. |

I would love lockdown to continue. I am lazy, but not at your or any other taxpayers expense. I have a very full life that centres around hobbies which don't include other people.
You sound bitter. It's nobody's fault that lockdown was harder on some than others. |

I realised how much I dislike the average person. Peace and quiet has been bliss but the lack of accountability has meant people have thrown garbage everywhere...
The great british public has really dissapointed me during lockdown. |

Yes they could and many did...my lady friends daughter for one. You get paid 80% of the average weekly for previous month (Feb). She also then got another job at her local Tesco....loving it large currently! |

Been working right through this although a lot more working from home than travelling anywhere. It was great without the traffic and people on the odd occasion I did go into town.
Streets & countryside were cleaner. Already we're seeing crap dumped in lay-by's and half finished bags of Chinese meals and other take away left in the streets/bus shelters etc. Hope the litter louts are so proud of themselves. |

I definitely won't miss it. I run hospitality events and that may not partially recover until the autumn, but I'm used to being surrounded by several hundred people. I'm bored out of my brain and definitely spending too much time on here and twitter! |

I’ve continued to work (albeit reduced hours in the first couple weeks but soon back up to normal quite quickly!) I found being at work quite frightening initially because social distancing isn’t easy. But 
I had to come off social media for a while because everyone seemed to be building amazing things from pallets and I felt inadequate
I’ve enjoyed less traffic on the roads, the general quiet ‘hum’ but desperately missed my family and friends. I have social anxiety and shopping is a surreal and more stressful than usual situation with queues and the obvious invisible threat of a potentially deadly disease.
I’m lucky to have a good network of friends I can talk to and share our feelings though  |

I will miss lockdown enormously, I don’t have any family to speak of that I see on a regular basis, it’s just weddings and funerals so no big loss there.
I have kept in constant communication with my friends.
I have worked every day, and I do mean every day, throughout lockdown averaging 90 + hours a week, so I don’t consider myself lazy
I have found plenty of ways to relax and de-stress , you obviously haven’t tried very hard.
My work and life in general has been sooooo much easier during lockdown, I’m missing it already. |

i am still given chocolate and biscuits to the refuse workers and the postie,as a thank you to them,that would never have happened without lockdown. I even got friendly chats off one of the bin lads and now we going to meet up once its safe to do so. |

I’m not going to vilify anyone who’s been happy during lockdown but I’ll be honest it’s not been great for me and I won’t miss it. Loneliest I’ve felt in a damn long time.
I can see the appeal of course, the first few weeks were actually not bad but then the realisation kicked in and from there it was just loneliness, wanting to see my friends and family. I can’t wait to be able to freely cuddle haha. |
