Depends if you believe in this unscientific nonsense or not.

If masks work as alleged (they don't but that's another story). It doesn't matter if someone isn't wearing one because yours will protect you.

If as alleged masks stop the spread by 'trapping' the virus where are all the bio hazard bins and disposal points. The country is littered with discarded face coverings.

All total nonsense designed to soften up a public for vaccination.

By the way the same people saying 'we're all in it together' are usually the same people who were stocking up on toilet rolls and baby foods at the expense of others back in March.

No we aren't in this together, that much has been made very clear

Clap for the NHS every week but deny pay raises for nurses and block policies to protect the NHS from being bought.

No, the divide is clear, Mrs works for the NHS and everyone clapping every week while not social distancing was just an insult.

We will never be in this all together, society differences are too high, all we can do is support the ones who do act responsibily and avoid the ones who are self entitled to do as they please

The most important part anyone can do is to protect the vulnerable as they are the ones who will mainly die from this disease

Theres no evidence they work.

It's all a conspiracy to soften us up for... rationing.

Some people don't wear them properly therefore it's pointless for me to even try.

I saw someone not wearing one so therefore I'm not going to wear one either.

The air raid guards have no authority to enforce it so I'm going to go without.

I find them uncomfortable to wear so nobody's going to make me.

This. Society is not equal so circumstances are not equal. A single parent with mouths to feed living in a flat is going to find it to be a lot more pressure than an affluent family living in comfort whilst working from home. That's not to say we shouldn't be sensible about the choices we make and how we behave. But sadly, whenever the public are given a choice, there are many who will make the wrong choice.

The way I see it is this. Living in society involves rights and responsibilities.

Personal rights are incredibly important and deserve to be fought for. But during a pandemic what's most important is responsibilities.

I cannot make the government, or other people, behave reasonably, although I can put the case for doing so. (I'm not arguing specifics here, just in general terms)

I can be mindful of the situation and take responsibility for my risk to those around me. Social distancing, high levels of hygiene, staying aware, wearing a mask. I've registered my interest in a vaccine trial. I stay aware of the scientific and public health developments. I'll be getting the flu jab. I try to maintain my health. I choose to abstain from optional activities (pub, restaurant, gym) to stay away from others.

No. We haven't all been in this together right from the start.

How can the authorities expect people to separate themselves from their friends and families, wear face coverings and abstain from activities and disrupt their lives massively when the authorities themselves are unable to follow their own rules (and get caught, very publicly, breaking them)?

Even the chief advisor who was instrumental in the UKs lockdown policy was busted red handed flouting it (on more than one occasion) to have illicit trysts with his married lover.

Scotland's health officer was caught out during the initial lockdown visiting her second home while telling people not to see their own families.

This in it together theory was doomed from the get go!

It is hard for me to say how strict people are adhering. People I know have a more lax attitude now. They adhere where it is required in public and whilst nobody is having parties, they gather for dinners etc where I doubt social distancing is practiced. I have not watched the news for a couple of weeks now and besides Fab, I haven't heard of coronavirus being mentioned at all by anyone.

Stop finding excuses we should be in this together

STILL OVER 120 DEATHS YESTERDAY

"

We should perhaps acknowledge that we are not - and never have been - all in this together. Aside from the virus having a greater impact on BAME communities and the socially-deprived, the Powers That Be have followed their own rules from the beginning.

"We are all in this together" is the bull they feed us to get us in line.

Back in march the telegraph printed an article saying masks makes you more prone to getting an infection.

Some people have use the freedom of information act and asked the Cabinet office to provide scientific proof of the virus. Their response was that they didnt have any?!

They did lie about iraq... about 250 million a day to nhs during brexit....

Lets see what else did they lie about?

Death rates?

Double counting tests?

Reliability of tests?

Track and trace?

The model that predicted what was it 500000 deaths if no.lockdown butnthey just disnt mention that it included those dying under normal circumstances.

What else did wankock said? "Under normawl circumstances 10k ppl in care would die per month"

What was death figures for 2019? Over 600k thats 1.5k per day.

Will this ever go away....

If we never heard about cv19... wouls you know there was a pandemic or would these 'extra' deaths be put down tragically as flu or poor health?

We clapped for the nhs and they gave us singing and dancing videos whilst telling those in pain and in need to go home.

No. Not happy. We need answers and proof.

Do we really expect everyone to wear a mask when they have been told they have to."

The second category - idiots who care neither about their own lives nor the lives of others.

"No.

This in it together theory was doomed from the get go!"

This is a huge part of the problem

Why would people trust or believe anything the Government or their "advisors" tell them when they have been caught out on more than one occasion themselves

I've been pretty good and still wary of a lot, put majority of people I know just see it as a joke now and do as they please while laughing at me for still trying to follow the guidelines.

Back to OP I don't think we have ever been in it together, so many selfish people and folks be ding the rules to suit. "

This and any trust I had in the government giving a fuck went out of the window. This is purely political now and not a public health issue for them while the public scrambles around confused wondering who to believe and which is the truth and which is lies. The handling of Covid-19 has been a complete shambles in this country from the late introduction of lockdown to the ridiculous easing of lockdown and its policing.

This country needs to question if our political system needs to be reconsidered as for me it doesn't work whoever is in power.

I choose not to go in places that require I wear a mask. They said they only stop with the transmission of the virus if you have it so how or why have they suddenly changed tac? I've been mostly sheilding or self-isolating since late February with a handful of journeys out all following and with the advice given to me by these jokers but come the 1st of August I will live my life how I want as clearly the government has now clue and is grasping at straws with this last ruling for compulsory masks.

It’s all crazy people only looking out for themselves now.

I read a post by a business analyst few days ago and he said

When lockdown started people became social and happy (strangers spoke and people smiled when out exercising) but as it’s reverting to normalish ways selfishness has reared again.

It’s funny though when you see people rebel now and complain but months ago when all off for months getting paid to stay home people where happy accept it all.

Shame all these people who said it is a hoax didn’t keep working and fighting against lockdown then the economy would be still strong.

Food for thought

This whole 'people did what they were told during the war' is bullshit propaganda to get you to do as you're told.

My grandad lived with his grandparents who refused to go to the air raid shelter when told and they lived in an area of Glasgow very likely to be bombed. My grandma was evacuated with her mother and they came back to the same area of Glasgow within weeks because she hated being on a farm.

Thinking everyone did as they were told is a total fantasy and stop spreading it.

Spain's rates were lower than ours for many weeks. Many believed that it was safer to be in Spain that it was to remain in the UK. Despite the increase in cases in Spain, most areas that Brits go to still have a far lower number of positive tests than the UK. I caught the end of an news item. On tv a few days ago showing that the incidence rate in uk is 14 (per 100k?) compared with 3-5 in the canaries.

Can you explain the differences in how spain and the uk report and how this demonstrates that there will be no second wave.

PS there were more covid deaths in England in the last 7 days than the 7 days prior to that. This is the first time there has been a weekly increase in since peak in April.

No, because it's impossible to evidence something that hasn't happened which is why I am not claiming a 2nd wave. I am just pointing out the trends in other countries and asking you to evidence something you have claimed has happened. I.e. that other countries aren't following rules and guidelines.

So, can you please evidence the following :

1. Spain reports cases differently which is why uk won't have a 2nd wave

2. Other countries aren't following rules and guidelines.

Might be able to shed to light on this for you. The outbreaks in Europe are being fuelled by 18-25 age group. Source WHO.

So what are they doing differently? I doubt it's that they aren't wearing masks in shops but more likely , they are behaving like 18-25 year olds...Now, as we came out lockdown a couple of weeks later, I suspect that the 18-25 age group in the UK are doing the same. Don't you??

"It’s all crazy people only looking out for themselves now.

Food for thought"

Funnily enough having been without a contract for a year I got a contract which started the day before lockdown. It is a key worker role and it is working from home lockdown and thereafter. I'm so grateful to have gotten it because I'd be struggling mentally and financially if I hadn't.

The economy by the way was well on its way to being screwed without Covids influence due to Cameron holding a referendum and not preparing for both potential outcomes. How he is still walking free with such negligence of his duties as PM is ridiculous and beyond me.

On the other hand, some people are dying because they aren't getting the treatment for other conditions. Perhaps balances out a bit. Of course , 65k plus over 4 months is a terrible figure regardless of covid related or indirectly related.

You’re absolutely correct, cancer survival times etc are decreasing with a lack of service and there is a balance point to these figures. The whole conspiracy theory regarding mass Numbers of unrelated deaths being classified as covid-19 however is very wrong. I know from my own trust our covid confirmed deaths are lower than the reality and significantly so. We have around 600 grey area entries of recovered ventilated patients that have passed away due to damage done, DOAs who weren’t tested etc. 45-65k is the range and at a guess the virus claimed somewhere in the middle of those figures.

I’m bored of seeing yet another bed come through into icu which another helpless soul to be ventilated, I’m bored of holding out hope for every family I have to help into PPE just so they can hold their relatives hand through latex gloves, I’m bored of waiting until after 10pm Each shift to remove those who didn’t make it so that other patients or visitors don’t see the bodies come past.

The problem is... bored idiots who just carry on as normal have no concept of the fact they are to blame for our admissions lurching back up, they don’t realise they are to blame for our new lockdown measures that came into play 6 hours ago, they... well, they are just carrying on as normal.

If you did spend a good few Thursday evenings clapping on your doorstep prior to boredom, do me a favour and stick your clapping up your arse please.
