Maybe they're going from 1 shop to another and only have 1 mask, as once touched once, a disposal mask should be thrown away and a reusable mask should be washed

In a Sparkly Dress

I wear mine in the street so I don't have to do the take off process until I get to my car, I sanitise too much already so any little less saves my hands from becoming irritated

It's better to prevent the mask or fingers transferring virus, if masks are touched.

They keep my face warm too.

If people wear disposable masks, they may be socially responsible and not want to create huge levels of waste, from disposal of them successively, after each place visited for a short period of time

I think some people now see the masks as some sort of fashion accessory with the styles that are out there now..coloured ones, sparkly ones, branded ones even (Adidas) and I reckon those very same people will continue wearing them once the ‘rona is well under control because they think they will look all hip and cool.

It won’t be FFS

I too have asthma and when its very cold it is easier to breath with a mask on than without. Was advised by a specialist a few years ago that breathing through a scarf helps some asthmatics when cold.

Makes sense in a World Pandemic.

People walk past people in the street.

They don't want to touch the mask going between public places.

Could have just left or be going to go to a public place.

Makes perfect sense to me.

if your going to need it again.. you should not he removing it and putting it back on.. leaving it on negates the need to wash / sanitize hands and put on a new one.

Although regular hygiene is still essential. If I'm on a patient pick up I have to put mine on before I get in my car... then wipe the surfaces down... before picking them up... I must keep my mask on the entire time even if I'm alone..

After they have got out.. I then wipe the car down again.. re wash my hands and then remove my mask.

Outside I've often forgotten I've got it on or am moving between shops, jobs etc.

Does it really hurt anyone if people leave them on... In many places masks outdoors are now compulsory and medical grade ones not home made

My asthma is triggered by chilled air too. Lots of folk don't realise it's a thing! Air con, freezer aisles in supermarkets, winter weather.

I used to wake up coughing throughout winter till I realised my winter tog duvet was the culprit... Cos my body was warm I thought I was warm, but I was breathing in cold air - triggering my asthma. Luckily I can afford to use a summer tog duvet year round and keep my bedroom heated to 18-19 degrees C all year too. Not woken up coughing for 4+ years since I realised that!

I don't wear one walking down the street

But as a carer, going house to house, you keep it on in the car because once it's been touched it and removed it has to be replaced. Not a problem you might think, but they are rationed. Surgical masks are 2 in a 12 hour shift. We change them if them get wet.

The ffp2 mask, is 1 per 12 hour shift. Only changed if we go from a covid client to a non covid one.

Imagine how nice that is as officially you can only hang them off you ear when you eat or drink, but they always fall off making them dirty and have to gotten rid of

Put your mask on before you leave home.

Don't touch it again until you're back home and taking it off.

That simple. Anything else just seems like the obnoxious naughty kids at school who'd wear their ties shorter and shorter to see how far they could push it before they were pulled up on uniform regs.

I haven't gone barefaced outdoors since March.

They could be Uber drivers or delivery drivers like Amazon.

They need to keep their masks on even when they are alone in the vehicle, because they make intermittent stops to collect passengers or meet face to face with other people in the case of a delivery.

In some parts of Europe and other countries around the world, masks are mandatory outdoors, even when you are walking down the street alone.

You can bump into someone or a group of people unexpectedly, even when walking along a quiet street.

Someone recently pointed out on a thread about the vapour released when people vape, the huge cloud distributed and if you have smelt it then you have definitely inhaled the breath of another person.

This is a way of showing how everyone's breathing distributes in the air, those tiny droplets exhaled carrying all sorts of harmless stuff and potentially very harmless virus.

Outside doesn't mean safe.

Safer yes probably by a huge amount compared to begin inside a sealed room.

The only way we can make it safe is to eradicate this fucking virus.

It's literally the lowest-effort way of managing the situation.

Step 1: Put it on before you go out.

Step 2: Forget about it until it's time to take it off.

I don't know why it's anybody else's business or worry about someone else covering their face and keeping their germs to themselves.

People can dress how they like. I might think X looks like an oompah loompah and should stop bathing in bronzer. I stfu because it's not my business.

X might think I look like a woke whiny snowflake in my mask. X can also mind his/her own business and stfu.

Can I just add that the OP did say ‘out of curiosity ‘ I didn’t sense any judgement there & I could be wrong on that...but it was just a question..some unkind replies in that light.

To the mask wearers thank you.

I recall spending time in a cycle shop trying helmets on & looking in the mirror each time. The assistant stood behind me & said “you do know that to most people you look a knob in a bike helmet whichever you buy & how much you spend.” And he was right, failing to account for me not caring about others thought only caring that I didn’t think I looked a knob.

As someone that volunteers and delivers food to various households from my car, it would be more time, effort and risk to keep touching it and taking it off. I’m sure this applies to many people that may be travelling from different places and don’t want to touch their mask / face multiple times.

I don’t see why anyone else is using their time thinking / worrying about this to be honest.

"Can I just add that the OP did say ‘out of curiosity ‘ I didn’t sense any judgement there & I could be wrong on that...but it was just a question..some unkind replies in that light.

How bloody rude!

"

I did know him I should add..
