You do realise that back in January Norway was expressing concern that 29 people had died after having the Pfizer vaccine. People get clots all the time and it’s been shown that the incidence of clots in vaccinated people is no more than those who haven’t been vaccinated.

I J have had the Oxford vaccine,,,a little tired next day but fine after that, considering millions in the UK have had the Oxford vaccine and no bad reports....doesnt it sound suspicious that Europe is still bad mouthing it..a week or so ago they was bad mouthing UK for not supplying them..but does seem really odd that they promote the most expensive vaccines available..are they on commission ? Certainly questions need asking..for a start how many have had the various vaccines in Europe and how many have had bloodclots ? Where was it made ? Who checked it for quality ? Who ensured storage and distribution was temperature controlled etc etc...your going off half cock without the facts..just press releases and sensationalism....

Very much so. This is not the time to ask for a specific vaccine - they have all passed the tests and the stories around them change almost hourly.

To me (and I am actually pro European in every sense) this is a game of politics played by the European community which really nobody can afford to play.

"Just tune into Sky News. I'll say no more.

Suspended based on the precautionary principle. Hence no evidence that there is an increase in blood clots but they want to study the data. There have been less that 40 reported blood clot cases after 17 million vaccinations with the AZ vaccine. If you randomly take 17 million people without the vaccine and monitor them over 2 months, greater than 40 people will get blood clots.

Did you ask which company made your measles, smallpox or tetanus vaccine? Polio?

According to Professor Spiegelhalter no alarm or surprise at all with what's been reported and the numbers are well within normal occurrences of blood clots with how many have been vaccinated. But he's just a leading scientist so there's no point listening to him...

My experience of any vaccine is that you have a reaction which is natural as your body responds to something foreign. If it didn't then it usually indicates there's something wrong with your natural immune system.

Hysteria is the new phenomena.

I actually think allowing people to opt for the vaccine they are most comfortable recieving, will help increase vaccine uptake.

I know some G.Ps do discuss both and allow you to have the one you're most confident with.

I suspect it's simply impractical for vaccination centres to be able to offer a more tailored service as yet.

You have quoted Sky News on a number of occasions and mentioned the Astrazeneca vaccine being suspended in some parts of Europe. Now when people are challenging you on your views you are saying you want the Pfizer simply because it’s more effective?

"Thanks for the Trolls in DM ... Wishing Me Dead. Thanks. What a lovely bunch.

Survival of the Fittest. "

How unfortunate and extremely uncalled for.

It is a highly emotive subject and there are obviously some with genuine fear regarding this vaccine, so people are understandably rather riled up when misinformation is spread.

People really need to be fact-checking and make up their own minds without all of the bullying or scaremongering.

I hope you get what you're hoping for if it makes you feel more comfortable about the vaccine, although I know just as many people who have been unwell with the Pfizer as they have with AstraZenaca.

I do have to ask though, what do you mean by "Survival of the fittest" at the end of your post?

No. The best vaccine is the one you're offered and get treated with.

They all have very good safety profiles and deliver good immunity.

My understanding of the Astra-zenica vaccine was that it was an adapted flu vaccine that’s been used before so it’s been proven in the past. The Pfizer vaccine is a totally new type of cell generation vacation that’s breaking new ground for this reason I wanted to get to Astra-Zeneca but I took what I was given. Pfizer

When our children were being given the MMR vaccine we had the scare stories of it causing Autism in children this over the years has been proven to be “bs” but we’re getting out breaks of rubella now. We all have to trust the judgment of the medical profession from birth to old age.

Is it just me that finds this whole scenario suspicious. Only a matter of weeks ago Europe were cajoling the U.K. for not supplying enough vaccines to them and now all of a sudden they let this news out. Looks like sabotage to me. Less than 10 people per 10m vaccines have died. I’m sure more would have died if they hadn’t had the vaccine.

Because you're contributing to the hysteria you mentioned.

You do realise that the oxford vaccine is actually showing as more effective after one dose?

You should be grateful you live in a country where multiple vaccines are available and instead of picking fault with the one you think is worse, you should have what you're given or don't bother at all. People are sat at home counting down the minutes until they can see loved ones again and it's people like you that will slow down the vaccine roll-out and make this horrible experience last longer.

Either have a vaccine or don't, but don't spread misinformation then act like a victim when you don't get praised for your rubbish advice.

It's posts like this that help create hysteria in the first place. But then I guess some people just get a kick from creating chaos even if it damages other people. If you're worried OP, then talk to your GP and not try to spread unfounded rumours.

Potential exception: if your GP has reason to believe that your personal medical situation warrants one vaccine or another, that might happen.

But that's not, "I, patient, want X or Y brand". It's "X vaccine might interact badly with your medical stuff, so I, a doctor with the power to do this stuff, am requesting you get not-X vaccine"

"Sorry OP, I’m losing patience with this now. Every time someone asks you a reasonable question you skirt around the subject and are unable to give an answer based on facts.

You have quoted Sky News on a number of occasions and mentioned the Astrazeneca vaccine being suspended in some parts of Europe. Now when people are challenging you on your views you are saying you want the Pfizer simply because it’s more effective?

Yes of course I'll request the most effective vaccine. It's been proven in clinical trials Pfizer is 95-97% effective while Azaranaca/Oxford is 63% effective against Covid. "

Just had a look, 67% effectiveness after first jab, 100% effectiveness against serious illness, hospitalisation and death according to the AZ website, bias yes, no more bias than Sky or BBC.

"Well the WHO says there is no evidence of problems with the AstraZeneca?"

Actually I do. his is from a BMJ paper...

A spokesperson for AstraZeneca said, “Patient safety is the highest priority for AstraZeneca. Regulators have clear and stringent efficacy and safety standards for the approval of any new medicine, and that includes Covid-19 Vaccine AstraZeneca.

“An analysis of our safety data of more than 10 million records has shown no evidence of an increased risk of pulmonary embolism or deep vein thrombosis in any defined age group, gender, batch or in any particular country with Covid-19 Vaccine AstraZeneca. In fact, the observed number of these types of events is significantly lower in those vaccinated than what would be expected among the general population.”

I have looked at the data myself. There is "less" incidence of clots with vaccine compared to general population. With vaccine 0.000073% incidence. Without vaccine 0.1%.

Oh look, surprise surprise.

Emer Cooke, European Medicines Agency (EMA) executive director, said there was no indication Oxford/AstraZeneca’s coronavirus vaccine was the cause of reported blood clots.

She told a virtual press conference: “I want to also stress at present there is no indication that vaccination has caused these conditions.

“They have not come up in the clinical trials and they are not listed as known side events with this vaccine.

“In clinical trials, both vaccinated people and people who received the placebo have shown some very small number of blood clot developments.

You're welcome to not take a vaccine. In the same way service providers may be welcome to deny you their patronage.

No. You can't request a particular brand, you get what your given.

A warm bath, an early night and a couple of paracetamol fixed that.

Sadly, you may not have a choice, very little of the Pfizer vaccine in circulation now, we only have enough for our second doses. AZ deliveries have really escalated, have 10k doses to deliver next week and we will use every drop.

"Wasn't I Right... Choose your Vaccine

I was shot down here a few weeks ago. I shall not queue for any vaccine. Request from your GP pfizer vaccine

No. You wasn't right.

Your scaremongering and false accusations were rightly shot down.

You're welcome to not take a vaccine. In the same way service providers may be welcome to deny you their patronage.

No. You can't request a particular brand, you get what your given.

I had the AZ vaccine nearly a week ago and I've had zero problems. Felt a little shivery in the shoulders the day after.

A warm bath, an early night and a couple of paracetamol fixed that.

I do wish the mods would remove or close dangerous nonsense threads.

M"

Agree with you about mods closing threads.

I have no gripe with the op, its her choice what she wants to do, no one here knows if she has or will be given a choice.

What i do think is (not you) there are too many people on the virus forums giving advice, when obviously all they do is sit behind a keyboard and use google to state such bollo**s, unfortunately i cant name them, but im sure we all know who im on about.

These people (well mainly one) shoots people down who don’t agree with her, constantly try to make people feel stupid, gives advice virtually making out shes a scienctist or similar, i think people like that should not be allowed to voice the way they do here.

"Wasn't I Right... Choose your Vaccine

You know the American’s are reporting blood clots with the Pfizer vaccines too right? The choices seem to be the same but with Covid19 itself 1 in every 200 get clots, Astra Zenica in Europe (not UK) 1 in 167,000. This is pretty much inline with those who get them any way.

I didn't realise this until very recently. But I have alot more info now. Like all medicine there's side effects and one wouldn't want to read the leaflets attached to most listing all side effects...

Maybe you ought to get the information before trotting in on your high horse and telling us how right you were.

You were totally wrong and you should take the vaccine you are offered, you're lucky you can even have one, there are many people that would love to have it but can't.

Sometimes the best course of action is to sit down and shut up and let the professionals do their job, this is exactly one of those times.

``Trotting in on my high horse`` Which I'm not...

I'm not ``preventing the professionals from doing their job`` in anyway."

You most certainly have trotted in on a high horse, you just fell off it and face planted.

I havent said you've prevented anyone doing their job, however, you literally have no idea about these vaccines, yet you think you get to choose which is best, you don't. That's why it's best to sit down and let the people that actually know what they are talking about to advise on the vaccines. Either take what you're given or don't take it at all.

If letting people have a choice over which vaccine to have over comes people's fears and get themselves protected is a good idea.

Whether I or other's disagree with the concept on this one or the other one being more effective has very little importance in the grand schemes of things.

You shouldn't be telling anyone what vaccine they should have.

If in the future there is a problem with Pfizer i hope you ld be less pushy.

I have had what was offered to me . And i ll add , im extremely grateful."

This, absolutely. And there is no evidence at the moment that Astra caused the clotting problems. When will people remember every single medicine, vaccine, prophylactic comes with a huge list of side effects ranging from common to very rare, even the panadol that you take, probably without even thinking about it. You choose what you want to take, if any, but don't assume you are qualified to speak for others.

This. The levels are actually lower than in a control group.

After millions of doses given, there’s bound to be a few people get blood clots, there will also be people who die and some who have car crashes, will the vaccine be blamed for anything bad happening to anyone who’s had one?

I’ll be rolling my sleeve up Saturday and don’t give a shit which vaccine it is.

'I know what I want and I will get it'.

This speaks volumes. You didnt even know that the Oxford vaccine was the same as the astrazeneca vaccine, what on earth makes you think you know which vaccine is better?

Freedom of speech is fine, and so is an opinion, but you spouted nonsense as fact, and told people to go and get a certain vaccine, that's not just an opinion, that is giving advice/orders that were based on information that was incorrect. You were joining in with the hysteria spreading and it helps nobody.

^^^^^^^ Yes that's correct I didn't realise the AstraZeneca & The Oxford were both the same. I clearly admitted that earlier in thread. I think it's quite understandable why one would think they were both not the same as they were under 2 different names.

I believe one particular vaccine has the highest percentage of efficacy. I have done my research. And from day one I've said that's the one I want. They did manufacture Viagra also and that has proven to be highly successful.
