Cases were always going to rise as schools returned and restrictions are eased.

Crucially, hospitalisations are going down. That's the key.

... variants are more likely to happen with more transmission. Vaccines reduce transmission. Our odds improve, and less people get sick and develop disabilities or die.

Or, you know, if it's less than 100% perfect and a guarantee of no Covid, world peace, and a bigger dick, it's obviously worthless, because that's how everything works, right?

Don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good.

There will not be more lockdowns. As we are going to have to learn to live with covid. If there are outbreaks in areas you may see local quarantine, restrictions and mass testing. But the uk could not afford or handle another national lockdown . People are already becoming restless and the forums and polls tell you more and more poeple think we should now just get on with our lives.this has been the worst 18mths of our lives and hopefully we will not experience this again in our lifetimes. But nature can be a bitch.

People in the UK are not permitted to travel except for specific exceptional circumstances. There is no block for general incoming travellers, except for a minority of countries, including enforced Hotel quarantine.

The UK government website says that that's not what's happening.

So what I'm gathering is that lockdown means no one in or out according to you, and because that's not happening (even though it was never the rule), lockdown doesn't work.

And the vaccines don't work because lockdown as defined by you isn't doing what you think it should, and you disregard all evidence.

Is that right?

Explain the massive reduction in hospitalisations and deaths then.

You understand the scientific method OP?

And you understand the processes of how the MHRA approves vaccines and medicines OP?

Perhaps you could detail your understanding, so that we can grasp how little, or more, you have some inkling about! This isn't the arena for a very in depth education format, starting from ground zero. You may be better elsewhere, if these things aren't your strengths.

And studies pending on reduction in transmission. And studies published on neutralising antibodies. And other things besides.

Nope, people magically fly in although forbidden (according to the OP not the government) or a fairy magics variants into the UK, therefore the vaccine (which is largely unrelated to travel) is worthless.

"So lockdown finishes and cases rise and another new variant.... vaccines must be really worth having. Ready for a third lockdown?"

I could give you an answer, but I doubt you'd read, acknowledge or understand it. Instead I'll ask a question of you.

The smallpox vaccine was invented in 1796 by English physician Edward Jenner.

The world has delivered literally billions of vaccines since there invention in 1796.

Since 1796 literally hundreds of diseases have been totally wiped out by vaccines.

We are at the very height of medical research, knowledge and understanding right now in 2021; we've literally never know so much about medicine as we do right now.

So why do you think vaccines aren't worth having?

"Cases were always going to rise as schools returned and restrictions are eased.

Crucially, hospitalisations are going down. That's the key. Its all too much for some to understand. "

Agreed it really should not be that difficult for everyone to understand surely ???

"So lockdown finishes and cases rise and another new variant.... vaccines must be really worth having. Ready for a third lockdown?"

Quite the optimist aren’t you. Yes vaccines are worth having - they prime our immune system to the type of virus (bearing in mind our bodies have never encountered it before and that’s why it’s so deadly). Rising cases won’t matter if vaccines have significantly reduced death and serious illness. Even knew variants won’t be able to completely escape immunity and although you might get mildly ill they will not lead to significant death rates any more

Exactly and why the government have between a 3 and 5 week between each proposed stage in the lifting of lockdown because we know infections will go up and know that 2 to 4 weeks later we see hospital admissions go up so we make the vaccine is doing its thing and people aren't getting really ill.
