should there be a pinned post with facts?

This part of the forum is awash with misinformation, conspiracy theories and misunderstandings. In a pandemic, such things are v dangerous. They will ultimately lead to deaths. Possibly a lot of deaths.

Would it help to have a pinned thread or notice at the top of this part of the forum? It could give facts about eg vaccines/masks. Possibly quoting the NHS as it's a more trusted institution than any news media organisation.

"Or people can just go to nhs or gov site for information direct "

They could. The problem is that many seem not to. So they end up believing toxic rumours instead. That's why I think it might help to have such information highlighted prominently.

Might at least help to have the water there.

I suspect that, at least as far as the folk that ever venture into this forum, all those who would believe information from reputable sources are pretty well aware of it already. Conversely, those who really ought to read a bit of truth are the ones that prefer to be informed by grifters on YouTube...

I'd have preferred a pinned notice that spreading disinformation is against site rules and may result in service suspension or termination. Though this would be better done earlier in the pandemic.

Other social media companies have taken a very different approach to fab.

water is already available at appropriate places.

A pinned post, pointing folks to where the water is doesn’t mean they will necessarily be any more inclined to go drink from the source of the water or indeed, take the water from the forum if it happened to be included in a pinned post.

Besides which the Mods have a hard enough time as it is without adding to the burden of ensuring the water is constantly checked and suitable for human consumption.

It's good that sort of thing is there. But I really don't think it's especially visible where it is. And the damaging misinformaton and conspiracy theories to do with Covid tend to be spread here.

Some people won't read it. But that's hardly a reason not to have the info there.

As for your comment about the mods, it'd hardly be arduous to pin a post here that links to guidance from a trusted source.

I'm simply interested in saving lives. I'm not sure why you're arguing against that.

Still pointlessly pushing that saying, eh?

Anyway, I've given my opinion on this thread. I've at least tried.

In what way? The amount of conspiracy stuff that has been removed since March 2020 is unreal so I think Admins stance on it is the same as most other sites

To clarify, discussion about a subject and someone disagreeing with what you are saying is not conspiracy stuff
