I started going to work today but after breakfast realised my taste was different and had headache. So phone into work. I only started a new job 7 weeks ago so was weary about taking a day off for a sickie. Anyhow got a covid PCR test this afternoon. Now Mrs says " why you ruined Christmas"....as I supposed we may end up isolating . Anyone else off today with Covid ?

So 2 things, 1 you may test negative and 2 if she's been vaccinated she can still go about her business

We can probably expect many others will increasingly be having to do the right thing and testing and isolating. Best wishes OP

Good move not going in and well done.

Sadly, I know of a friend's place where one of their staff went in, and it is suspected said person knew they had the virus. Now the whole office is closed, staff sent home. (And one of the staff is considering suing the company, and also said individual with the virus). Complete mess.
