they seem to be working well for me ... I'm the only fully vaccinated member of a team of 12..... I'm also the only one not to have caught covid over the last 5 weeks. Our residents are also all vaccinated and none of them have tested positive.. although obviously we all use ppe as well still with residents.

I’m all jabbed up but also spend alot of time flying. 8 flights in 4 weeks i was bound to catch it again and did for my second time just before christmas
Strangely it was mild compared to last time while i was positive, but since the tests have gone negative ive gotten 10 times worse and feel like i have been run over by a truck
Maybe it knocked my immune system and i got a second thing just as i was recovering, but its not pleasant whatever it is |

So what's the relevance of the number of deaths the month before the escalation of cases ? If it follows the same pattern as the first wave then it's likely to be a month before infections become deaths isn't it ?

We are in the living with Covid phase now remember and so that is exactly what we are doing.
Science will continue to work on finding solutions for Covid so it will hopefully continue to receed into the background. |

Very true but what do you suggest we all go back into lockdowns at the slightest hint of covid?
We have all seen how the last twelve months have worked out with an explosion in the cost of living, other diseases up and of course China failed attempt at zero covid which has led for the first time years in an eventual climb down by the party leadership as it was actually getting very close to revolutionary conditions. |

Lockdowns main use is to buy time, for vaccination roll out or treatments to be developed etc, they achieved that pretty much but I can't see any need for them now. They can also stop too many people getting sick at once to stop health services getting overwhelmed but I can't see them being used for that either. |

Ive also been away on aircraft with crew 2/3/4 times a week depending on roster and never had an issue. Even with fellow crew and Co flight deck testing positive. I'm entirely unvacinated and only ever had covid once over a year ago. To me natural immunity outweighs vaccines even when spending 11+ hours in a cockpit with someone who tests positive on return, so 22 hours plus in enclosed space yet no issues. Mainstream media has pushed people to panic over public health services not being able to cope with this issues for those at risk. The real question lies where our tax payers money goes in the HSE/NHS. The problem is with why our systems are not funded or run properly to cope with these issues |

I'm pretty sure the official figures show not many fit healthy young folks are effected by covid whereas the elderly and infirm are..
While children are as likely to get COVID-19 as adults, kids are less likely to become severely ill. Up to 50% of children and adolescents might have COVID-19 with no symptoms.

I had Covid a few weeks ago, was ill for just under two days, tested positive for about 5. Don't think it disappeared and came back as such, maybe just a different variant.. hope it doesn't affect too many people badly in the upcoming couple months. |
