Also given the nature of a pandemic and the virus, the inevitable outcome, and I'm pretty sure scientists and doctors would have been saying this almost 3 years ago is that eventually the virus gets progressively weaker and the severity reduces.
The fact that Japan already has, and the fact other countries inevitably will os proof the science was right, not that the science was wring. And it definitely doesn't make it just flu, not now and definitely not historically |

If the Japanese government say that Covid is flu, given their access to experts, I'd say that this is politically motivated and/ or that the Japanese government are fucktards.
Fortunately for the Japanese, it appears that this is not the case. |

Regardless of misinterpretation of what has been said, let’s get back to what this actually means...
1) Covid-19 has become sufficiently weaker to be classed as the same level of threat as Influenza.
2) Flu still kills a large number of people every year and sometimes mutates to a particularly dangerous strain (Spanish Flu in 1918-20 killed an estimated 20-50million people worldwide).
3) So if Japan are correct, then we no longer have a pandemic and will instead have something more akin to seasonal Flu outbreaks and sometimes there may be a particularly dangerous mutation. |

Not only did Japan NOT admit COVID is flu, they actually said that they would CONSIDER the requirements to wear a face covering IF THE CLASSIFICATION of Covid19 was reduced from Class 2 (Japan's 2nd highest disease category) to a class 5 disease (a lower risk)
Not quite sure where you managed to read ANYWHERE in the article that COVID is flu ?

Very possible that the virus you have right now is covid. Some of the recent strains have mutated so far from the original that they completely escape the protection offered by the covid vaccines, and they don't show up at all on the LFT home test kits. They still have the capability of damaging your body severely though.
Or it could be something completely different.
What everyone needs to start understanding though is that whether it's covid or flu or some other virus, getting badly ill multiple times in a year is very very bad for anybody! ANY disease can take months to get better from properly, even a simple cold or cough can linger for months. Getting sick a second time while still not totally recovered from previous illness will put a greater strain on the body, needing longer again to become well. We are now in a situation where many people are just continually ill, never getting back to full health before contracting another virus. And because so many people are ill, the viruses are getting opportunity to mutate faster than vaccines and treatments can keep up.
Given this, there is only one way for people to keep healthy - don't catch the diseases in the first place. Just avoid breathing air that might be contaminated. This means voluntary self-masking with high quality filtration, voluntary social distancing, voluntary staying away from others when sick, opening windows even in cold weather if you have to share space with others. Installing HEPA filter air cleaning systems if you can (a home build is easy and can cost less than £100).
None of this will guarantee you don't catch the latest viruses, but can considerably help your chances. It might make the difference between being continually ill all round the year, or only being ill for a month every couple of years. Getting at least some of your life back. And maybe getting some of your life expectancy back as well... |

I've had flu once in my life and it took me off my feet and confined to bed for about 10 days. I had a temperature and a cough with covid, felt slightly under the weather for a few days both times I had it.
I'd take covid over the flu from my experiences. |

Last December, I didn't get the flu and I have never had covid. Because I am self employed, there was no-one pressuring me to have a jab to keep my job. Still haven't had it and still haven't had covid.
