I've been on Tamsulosin for many years. No problem with external ejaculations. Was advised against operation due to internal ejaculations into bladder with no 'sense of finishing'.
Good luck fella. |

I was never actually in pain. Just took forever to pee. One of the meds shrunk the prostrate the other made it spongy. Can't remember which does which.
Must be different symptoms.

" I take Tamsulosin it’s supposed to relax the prostrate, I take it because it’s supposed to make it easier to pass my kidney stones, it makes it easier to pass urine |

Unfortunately I had to have a full prostate removed, it's a bastard I can tell you.
Can't get an a hard on anymore, tried the pump and now started injection which hurts like fuck.
Pump works a bit but only for a hand job.
Lifes a shit but I am still here to tell the story. |

Hi
I’ve had mine removed and tried the tablets which didn’t seem to do much ?
I have a pump which works short term but if it’s hard for half an hour every hour ? Could be a win lol
I’m on injections which do get you hard but not as hard as most would want to be ?
Any questions just get in touch ?
Remember to do the exercises it does help control leaking
All the best !!
Ps just remember the treatment is a small price for more life |

Heads up guys it don't make your cock any bigger what you have is what you end up with they size everybody different so much gos in your body and the rest you can see on the outside they add the two together giving you the prosthesis to fit . In fact you might even lose a bit in length due to not being erect for some time like mine but mine as got more girther.go on to utube and search penile prosthesis operation there are plenty of videos on about it .good luck guys . |

I was diagnosed with prostate cancer after the pandemic and I chose to have radiotherapy rather than prostate removal.I tried Viagra and tadalafil which did nothing for me and now I am on invicorp injections which are sore as fuck but they do work.I am one of the lucky ones that can still perform and I know a lot of men that don't have a sex life at all. |

Yes, I find Tamsulosin results in a pretty dry ejaculation, but also discovered that taking it every other day gives more or less the same peeing relief but an almost normal ejaculation. It always pays to make fine adjustments to any medication to find the optimum dose. |

I'm 3 weeks post op now still show a little blood when peeing but have had numerous semis, having a virtually dry orgasm on one occastion. Back to work on light duties next week, will try sex proabaly needing a bluey when I'm ready. Thanks all for the input, keep sharing, it's good to talk. |

I'm 1 1/2 weeks post op now, had catheter removed 3 days ago. Balls still swollen and no movement from my cock as yet ( nerve sparing one side). I’ve read taking a Viagra to help boost recovery. I was given a 4 week Fit note but will probably get it extended- I’m in no rush to get back to work. |

In all honesty, yes it hurts but it's not unbearable! It's sore for a few hours and then uncomfortable for a day or so. Take pain killers every few hours for a couple of days and you'll be fine...if you can take a few days off work and just rest you'll get through it no bother! The worst part for me was the nurse having to shave my arse while my legs were in stirrups!! I told her if I'd known we were going to get this intimate I'd have brought her flowers!! Broke the ice and allowed me to relax a bit!! Best of luck and don't stress over it. Hopefully you get good results!! |

I had full nerve sparing exactly a year ago and still very little movement with erections, even with Cialis, which I take every second day as prescribed. It can take up to 2 years to get close to normal but erections may never come back. Have a chat with your urologist about a pump. It's vital to keep the the blood going to the vessels that enlarge when you get erect! It's a common misconception but Viagra won't actually give you an erection...it only works if the brain is stimulated too. And with nerve sparing surgery it takes a long time for the nerve endings to recover. Don't give yourself a time limit or you may get upset if things don't work properly by then. Best of luck with your recovery! |

Been on tamsolusin and finasteride for a few yrs now because of enlarged prostate
also had problems with emptying my bladder so have been using catheters too.
I lose erections I've tried Viagra which didn't make any difference, my doctor told me that any sperm goes into my bladder.
Would love to have sex and feel myself ejaculating.
I got the choice of catheter or operation but specialist said I was too young for operation at aged 50 |

I had the hoLep surgery 3 years ago as I couldn't pass urine at all, that was the most painful thing about it.
Was on a catheter for a while before they could get me in for the operation.
Woke up with the catheter still in until the next morning when it was removed. The first wee was so painful but it settled down after that.
Three years on, no leakage at all,but I seem to go a lot more than I used too.
No problems with erections and I get all the sensations of a climax, but there's no cum.
I've been told it's diverted into the bladder instead.
Been also told there's very little chance of the prostate growing back,so no cum,is a small price to pay to not have the pain from a swollen prostate. |

Yeah told the same thing, I still have a little swelling internally so sitting on a rubber ring at present how lower pressure, Have had a couple of hand shandies which has produced a little cum which was unexpected but if I get the sensation. I also want to pee, never been into water sports so told the misses not ready yet. Hopefully given another couple of weeks (sick note light duties till 5th May) will then have a try |

I hope all goes well, I am on active surveillance . My biopsy wasn’t great but don’t tell mates who are up for one as I think it’s best not to know.
Unfortunately I will have to have another before we decide to have the prostate removed. We are alive and this is very treatable.
Good luck to all with the same issues. |

I had my prostate removed nearly a year ago now. In terms of elections it's down to if they can spare the nerves, I was luck and they did for me. I can get an erection but do find it more difficult than in the past. As others have mentioned you won't ejaculate but will orgasm. I had issues with leaking but pelvic floor exercises help massively with this. This is the one thing I would advise for you, do them 3 times a day before and after your op. Hope some of this is of help and good luck. |

As far as I understand for 7/10 that have a prostate reduction, they have a dry orgasm. Cum just goes into the bladder and mixesin with your wee.
You still have the senstation of an ejaculation but nothing comes out. |

I belive whilst waiting for the op you have a catheter in. Is sex of any kind still possible? |

You don't have it in before the op. You do have one after the op for about 10-15 days. You can have sex but you won't feel like it. |

Folks, just to clarify something that's been said a few times earlier in the thread...your sperm DOES NOT go into your bladder after a prostatectomy. It gets reabsorbed back into the body! There are 2 other glands called seminal vesticles that are removed as well as the prostate so there is no way for the semen to leave the testicles and go anywhere! I'm a year post op and although orgasm's are dry at least I still get to experience them. And let's be honest,it's definitely better than having cancer!! |
Reply privately (closed, thread got too big)
Semen doesn't come from testicles - comes from the prostate.
My GP told me to avoid prostate shave as there may be a RISK that you ejaculate into your bladder. Different for different men I guess.
I've had the snip so no sperm but still ejaculate semen outwardly. On Tamsulosin but no op. |

A dry orgasm, also known as retrograde ejaculation, is a common side effect of Transurethral Resection of the Prostate (TURP). During a TURP, the internal part of the prostate is removed using an electrical knife, which can disrupt the natural sphincter muscle at the base of the bladder. This disruption allows semen to travel backwards into the bladder during orgasm instead of being ejaculated outwardly. While this doesn't cause any harm, it means that semen will be expelled in the urine instead of during sexual activity. |
Reply privately (closed, thread got too big)
I've had a x prostate shave (TURP) not a removal, enlarged but thankfully not Cancerous. As a result I have a dry irasm with my sperm going into my bladder a leaves the body when I pee. |

My ex had this done when he was in his 40's although they took about half his prostate. He had zero issue getting hard or having sex and in fact despite dry orgasms, he actually became quite multi orgasmic and could repeat a lot!
This was many years ago now and to my knowledge he's still 'shagging owt that moves' as he'll never change 🤣 |
Reply privately (closed, thread got too big)
I had a PSA test earlier this year, was surprised that it was high score. Next was a biopsy about 10 samples taken.
Was a bit sore and took about ,2 wks for blood to clear.
Result showed cells just in Prostrate and not spread.
Relief!
Now on tablets and injections to shrink it next bit is radiotherapy.
Side effects, loss of labido lack of hard on although I had a good active sex life.
I hope when this is over I can resume sex. |

That’s good news regarding the cancer. I had my removal procedure, 5 weeks ago and am on Tadalafil every 4 days as part of the rehab process. I can confirm I’m starting to get erections. My only concern is dry orgasms and how that will feel… until I test I suppose I’ll never know which I’m loathe to do until I get the all clear for full active exercise and sport activities in August. |

It is only painful with the first injection, if you start feeling discomfort during the biopsy just ask for a top up injection |

Hi folks. Again thanks for all the input both on here and private message. Now past 6 months since Prostate shave. Seems weird feeling horny but having no cum on orgasm. A few problems keeping erections but at 69 not unusual. Tried blueys with little to know joy. Thankfully wife loves oral lol. Take care all and don't forget to get checked regular. |

Im glad it has gone well for you. The dry orgasms are strange but look at the bright side, no cleaning up after. Maintaining an election can sometimes be hard but it generally works and I guess a small price to pay compared to the alternative. |

Been under urology for years taken tamsulion and various other medications.
Still getting up to pee during the night several times lol, my biopsy came back positive and observation.
PSA climbing and looking at another scan and possibility of another biopsy
Keeping smiling and positive |

It's been 5 years since my TURP operation, very good urine flow and bladder control.
Don't cum much volume and orgasm feels "normal"
So very happy with results. |

10 plus years now since I had my prosectamomy..
Really difficult decision to make but with an increase in the psa ( blood test) many biopsies and a diagnose of Prostate cancer.
I opted for the removal..
This left me with incontinence problems and impotent issues.
The journey was difficult and post operation the journey is still problematic but interesting and I am here!
The surgeon managed to save a few nerve ends thank goodness.
The incontinence problems continue but now manageable..pelvic floor exercises and towels to prevent leakage..Only when I have a really bad cough ( I piss myself) is it problematic..
The impotency has been really hard, after trying various pills such as Viagra, seemed to work briefly and still occasionally take a 50mg dose.
About six years ago,the urology dept suggested Caverjet, which is injected into the penis, takes a while in getting used too, but often works and has been a godsend.
I still orgasm, probably more than before and I often squirt, which feels exactly like cumming spunk, but in fact it's piss.
Today I went to a Sauna and fucked like a rattlesnake( i am predominantly top) 6 different guys and it really makes you feel good getting a solid hard on, doesn't work every time but I am delighted with where I am in my sexual journey.
Please dm me if you want to chat about options..
The really good news is ( if you want it) there really is light at the end of the tunnel.

Tried injecting and now on cream but just can’t get any further forward ?
Worst case might be an operation to give me the ability to be hard ?

You think RedBull could be an issue too |
Reply privately (closed, thread got too big)
I went to the doctors for a relatively small ailment and they decided that I hadn’t had my bloods checked for a while, so took them and two days later I’m getting a call from the doctor telling me that my PSA was high and could I come in for a urine test to check I had not got an infection. That was negative so literally a week later I’m in urology at the hospital having initial tests.
My head was spinning at this time and we were about to go on holiday, as soon as I came back I had my first MRI scan, the one with the dye pumped around your body and they then called me for another MRI scan before they decided my tumour is probably small enough to just monitor initially.
All this happened inside three months, so credit to the NHS, but still scary that I have this thing inside me. |

The op went well, (Basically a rebore) shaving the inside of my prostate but i was told at the start i may never regain a hard on again, 9 weeks later it is as strong as it was when i was a teenager however the cum dribble sout instead of shoot out but occasionally get a dry cum. but it still works ad i get the same sensations so not too bad..... but if that what it takes for good health then so be it. At least she doesn't get a shock with a mouthful of cum |

"Prostate Cancer is absolutely soul destroying, I was diagnosed with it in May 2023 but luckily it was diagnosed early. Thankfully after intensive therapy I was given the all clear. In this lifestyle it can really be quite a hard thing to deal with as at first I had a real loss of libido and performance. Then came the anxiety and depression that nearly made me give up Fab life. I'm on Tamisolosin to ease urinary problems and luckily thanks to great friends my libido has returned but I still don't feel the same as I used to.
I wish anyone going through the anguish of Cancer all my kindest thoughts and hope they can get through it too with as less stress as possible."

Not had this issue, thank god, as far as I am aware, so far anyway. There is growing medical evidence that men who ejaculate regularly have a very low incidence of prostate cancer problems. Studies suggest a strong link between higher ejaculation frequency (around 21+ times/month) and a significantly lower risk of prostate cancer, potentially by flushing out harmful substances, though it doesn't fully prevent aggressive forms, and other lifestyle factors also matter. |

When the prostate is removed, what controls urine flow particularly during sex?
Watersports are fun out of doors or in the shower but not so much in a bed, especially someone else's bed! |

Had my enlarged prostate fixed with a TURP operation 4 years ago.
I can still cum but a much smaller amount. Can also manage to piss with a hard on if I desire.
Has totally fixed my low flow and frequency problems
Overall a good result. |

Don't worry, your out for the count when the do the procedure. Feels weird having a tube in your bellend initially but you get used to it. Having to have a few pees to order once tube removed is a bit stressful but once done your free to go. Just follow instructions and you will be fine. |

Reply to forum post "Prostate operation" I had a HOLEP 10 years ago - laser surgery but a lot better than a TURP which is a scalpel job. Rétrograde ejaculation is tolerable but hugely disappointing not spurting cum any more. There is a newer non invasive procedure called aqua ablation that causes minimal collateral damage. Unless you are really suffering from an enlarged prostate and various medications which can work have failed then DONT DO IT. Keep investigating options. No sex for 6 months is bullshit and makes me think your consultant is ‘old school’ and is not up to date on alternative approaches which improve each year PM me if you want to discuss further |

Had my prostate removed in January 2025. I was incontinent for about 10 months but mostly ok now. Just the odd dribble. The pelvic floor exercises are a must. I haven't had an erection since the operation. I was issued with a pump but it doesn't give me an erection. Prescribed Sidenafil 100mg but no effect. Seeing the urologist next week so maybe try the injections if offered. Thinking about the prosthetic operation but need advice from those who have had it |

Struggle to control bladder for few months but ok now. Still get erection less comes out when I come
Not sure if less feeling or that just age lol. Sex few weeks after |

I had two biopsies on my prostate & was on finestride which I was told was probably the reason why my penis shrunk a bit & I lost my sex drive.
I was also on tamsalusin, & ended up with water retention which was very painful. They put a catheter in long term, which ended up causing polyps in my bladder. I had an operation to remove them & a tumour, they said that was a priority before my turps operation.
I eventually had my turps op last December & I am still able to ejaculate normally which I am told is rare, but that was just a bonus tbh.
The main thing is that you get it sorted & I wish you all the best getting back to full health. |

I was prescribed Alprostadil it worked getting an erection but it became quite tended and ached , lasted for 3-4 hours so not ideal, I saw the urologist again and was prescribed Invicorp which does the same job but no pain and the erection last a little less - for me around 2 hours |

I'm still hoping to get a magnetic valve fitted (all right until you can't find the magnet when you are busting for a pee) but I don't think that the highly lucrative incontinence idustry is too keen on such cures. |
Reply privately (closed, thread got too big)
I agree. After being investigated for cancer but luckily finding was enlarged prostrate but still having difficulty peeing I was prescribed Tamsulosin. I found Tamsulosin gave me dry orgasms, however taking it infrequently I found I got relief and it settled down for a reasonable intervals so only take it when feel need to. Obviously everyone is different but is always worth seeing the minimum dose you can take whilst getting the benefit. Good luck all. |

I don’t find that the medication does me as much harm as all the scopes and surgical istruments they poke up there, making me leakier every time. Being able to pee easily is the least of my woes.
It's stopping peeing that would be nice! |

Before anyone goes full on, and gets it removed. Ask your urologist if a minimal invasive procedure like Prostate brachytherapy is possible.
It is nothing big, with minimal side effects. Ask and insist a second opinion if they don’t offer it. This f course not everyone will fit the criteria but too often this treatment does not get offered as first choice. |

This treatment is now over 20years in practice, and it’s scandalous that it doesn’t get offered. Less side effects, easy to do. Less costly…
But of course vested interests direct the treatment offered. |
