Anyone had pile removal surgery, what's the pain like after? Did it work? How long were you off work? When's it ok for anal after? Private or NHS?

Someone told me it's shitting hot coals and broken glass for 10 days then it's fine, I would be eating more fat leading up to it to increase bile production so that you can have an easier time of it without getting too loose if you know what I mean because that might equally hurt and I would be avoiding fiber (I don't eat fibre anyway) check out Dr Anthony Chaffee

I'd definitely agree with this, I had the surgery, and it was like sh*tting glass for a few weeks, even with the painkillers. My neighbours must have thought I was being murdered...I was off work for 6 weeks, but strung it out as I got full pay lol...worth it though, never had a problem since...

Disagree with above posts. Maybe an hour or two pain then okay

I disagree. It was fooking painful.

Perhaps you had a better surgeon and slightly different surgery. I'm sure it's not exactly the same for everyone.

Do not check out Anthony Chaffee.

I've no idea why you would avoid fibre at all.

That is terrible advice especially in the long term.

Not had the surgery myself. But worked in general surgery and apparently the pain is horrendous afterwards. Good luck!

somewhere

Had it done twice

The first time was the last time I actually cried with pain as an adult

Easily the worst pain I have ever experienced

Had a similar operation last year ....no pain at all but Botox was injected inside me to help and it definitely did

I haven't had pile surgery, but I remember needing to have a camera put up into my kidneys to check for stones, didn't think to ask about anything afterwards, but after I woke up I went into the toilet to pee, sweet jesus I thought I was going to die, a solid stream of blood and it was like my shaft was been shredded by glass.

Surgery for haemorrhoids isn't done routinely as it used to be. It was found that it could cause more problems. If they can be managed with the over the counter medications it's great. Obviously if they are causing major issues then I'm sure GP/ will advise best route of treatment

I had my internal piles zapped , literally, with the Rafaelo procedure.

Was told it would be relatively painless, lie, was bad for a few weeks, but I had complications.

If you are having thought DM me, can discuss more

The procedure itself is painful. Don't let them do it without drugging you. However afterwards you just feel...full. no pain at all. Mild discomfort at times but that's it.

No one would have piles in the first place if they listened to Dr Chaffee, I'm not sure why you would eat fibre if you don't have a cecum or ruminant

Had both done as some were bigger than others, take the pain killers a eat soup, you are looking for soft poo so it doesn’t hurt going to the toilet, took about a week before starting to feel better, good luck

Ginge: awaiting a letter from the hospital to go in for this surgery. I have read it hurts like hell for a couple of weeks, but I fully believe it will be worth it.
