Returned from a P&O Cruise last saturday with Dry persistent cough. Now tested Positive for Covid. So if someone your playing with starts coughing it could be covid, unless of course you have just thrust your cock down the back of their throat.

Why insult people as 'sad' for managing their health? It can obviously be better to know what's infecting you as well as the source of long-term health issues.

"Why are people still testing ??

It's potentially still a serious health issue for some and may be fatal.

Some people have empathy, care for others, may have compromised immune systems and view social responsibility as important.

Sexual health and testing is rather important too. Just a little washing, if you have pus or a rash around your genitals, won't cure the ignorance, when testing can reveal what's behind it and allow for a healthier future for you and others. "

Simply a question … I don’t care who tests or not. But if you have symptoms of a respiratory infection and the person you care for is vulnerable to respiratory infections, does it matter which one? Would you act differently with a non covid infection?

If you are in a vulnerable category, and catch it early, you can get anti viral drugs now that are very effective at stopping hospitalization and death from the disease.

Testing is important in that context.

So, for my understanding, should a person who displays symptoms of a respiratory infection have been around someone vulnerable the vulnerable person should be tested?

The discussion focusses on COVID and not other infections, why?

I would imagine lots of reasons some of which have been mentioned on this thread As proved from this thread some people don't seem to care if they have it or not and some even declare it wasn't an illness at all so they wouldn't care that they are passing it on to anyone vulnerable.

Being responsible with yours and other peoples health isn't a bad thing and if that is testing to make sure so you are not still infected so you don't go out infecting people then what's the harm

People test because they are being responsible.

Yes covid is here to stay, it's an infectious virus which will continue to mutate, but we all have a duty to help stop the spread where we can, that means testing and isolating if you are infected, not going down to the pub and coughing on all your mates

Very difficult and emotive subject even now ....

It's not for one side to attack the other side over the arguments of what each believes...

We all have choices, some follow the guidelines, others choose or chose not to...

Life's about choices and whether we like what others say or do or believe that's their choice and each deserves respect .

People have a right to choose how they react to any given situation… we still have that choice.

Over 3000 lawsuits in the US and and multiple news articles and multiple law cases in this country and Europe show it effected everyone in different ways..

No, not all opinions are valid, some bloke who watched a YouTube conspiracy video doesn't have a. Equally valid opinion as a virologist.

"

We never had all the facts otherwise this discussion wouldn’t be happening.

Respect peoples decisions for better or worse thats being a human… "

Unfortunately, a significant minority of people (that is being generous) are unable to differentiate between fact and opinion. A cursory viewing of 'flat earth' facebook pages is evidence of that.

A decision that is based on an opinion of an opinion of an opinion etc etc lifted from social media source is not worthy of respect nor of consideration.

Didn't know people are that sad their still testing for it, I don't understand what you gain from the test results

You can try not to pass it on to people that may be very vulnerable.

"Have you heard of the great Barrington declaration? "

It was widely discussed at the time, in this forum so, if you want to educate yourself, you could read some of those original posts.

It was unethical and immediately discredited, leaving society in a far worse state.

Isnt it obvious? Its highly transmissible. Knowing you have it over, say, a typical flu bug, might influence your behaviour and help stop its spread. I've just recovered from a nasty bug but it wasn't CV.

No this is the biggest and as we all know from rising prices it is still going on, watch out for a property boom especially as the assets like housing are now brought up.

But if a jab or a test is important, you crack on.

I wonder if people outside of fab fora ever encounter a conversation such as this in real life.? The topic of covid rarely if ever comes up, and certainly never have conversations with folks judging others or patronising or belittling them for their choices beyond being told ... If you're ill I'd rather you didn't come to the office to spread it around, stay at home till you are better. And that would be true of cough cold flu covid sickness or any other contagious disease

Trust evidence that's from reputable, unbiased sources. If it's a scientific subject, then gold standard research is the priority.

I'd not trust the Kennedy man, as he's said such dangerous things and been too involved with discredited antivax BS. Certainly not credible by a million miles

"Why are people still testing ??"

People still test for all sorts of reasons: they themselves might be - or others they care for or live with might be - immunocompromised, immunosuppressed due to chemotherapy or transplant, vulnerable due to being very elderly.

You ask the question because, I presume, you are none of these, nor is anyone in your household, I presume.

It might not pose an immediate or serious threat to your health, but it’s not just about you.

Exactly this. Why test? What exactly is the point? At best, you get to call it covid, but the treatment is to avoid contact with vulnerable people and take paracetamol.

All you get from testing is to be able to say "I have covid", rather than any other virus. It makes no sense!

If you care for vulnerable people you need to be careful not to pass it on. My father is 98 and covid wouldn't do him any favours "

That makes sense, but if you have flu-like symptoms, you'd avoid contact with a vulnerable person in any case. Let's say it was a negative test for covid - so maybe common flu. You would still avoid contact. Testing for covid provides not one single benefit to the situation!

I agree.

I have been really poorly for the past couple of weeks - all the symptoms would indicate this new nimbus variant. Went to the Dr and she simply said it was very likely viral, didn’t bother testing for covid and said rest, water, ibuprofen and Anadin then just wait it out.

If you are not well then stay out of the way until you get better. It doesn’t really matter what label it has on it.

Same unfortunately. We're seeing a lot less critically ill cases but we're still getting the immunosuppressed and vulnerable unfortunately.

And to the prat that thinks it's sad to test, 1. If you know you're positive-you can still isolate or mask to protect others, and 2. we need to know what we're dealing with in order to treat effectively.

Their ability to relate to another person's experiences is above their emotional age and/or intellect.

Conspiracy theories thrive because they make people feel special, unique and 'awakened'.

Believing in them creates a sense of superiority, "I can see the truth whilst others are blind". This illusion of secret knowledge gives a comforting feeling of control in a chaotic world as they are unable to see that 'sh!t happens'. It is about ego, belonging and the need to feel important or even just relevant.

So pretty much the same reason you invented a story about losing three friends to Covid?

Attention seeking?

And you know that how?"

Call it a hunch.

Are you stalking me? Why do you feel the need to reply to every post I make?

You are a complete tool I am afraid.

The reason you call into question the death of my 3 friends is because it would challenge your idiotic notion that Covid was made up by people unknown to control the masses. ergo.. My 3 friends could not have died of Covid therefore I MUST be lying.

Just another layer to your conspiracy theory mindset JUST so you can feel to be of relevance in this world and 'special'.

I would suggest you stick to Facebook to spout your idiocy. At least there you will be among other special friends who do not think of you as a complete tool.

Simple advice: block this tool and move on. They do not deserve attention, which is all that they crave.

Sorry for your loss.
