Mine was nearly 30 years ago.
Very painful for the first few days and I couldn't drive for 3 weeks. Operating a clutch pedal was very difficult.
Sex was off for about a similar time and had to be careful at first. But within a couple of months it was back to normal.
Even now though I still have a slight numbness on the left side of my groin. |

Had mine about 15 years ago. I was out of action for about three months. Any sort of exertion in the first month and a half caused real bad pain.
Once healed never had a problem, but as one poster said, there is some numbness around and below the incision site although I believe keyhole ops don't have the same drawbacks. |

Had a para umbilical hernia , got emergency surgery in hospital for a week , my physio pal told me to walk as much as I could and work on my abdominal muscle , sex three weeks later off work 11 weeks

I was back at "work" in just over a week. Running a business I had little choice.
One of my employees would pick me up and I did little more than perch on my office chair for a couple of weeks. Getting up and down was the hard bit. You suddenly realise how many abdominal muscles you use just to stand up and sit down.  |

I'm literally recovering now, it was 3 weeks before my first wank and 6 weeks before full sex. My scar is 7 inches long in the groin area. It's still numb with pins and needles in the area. But getting easier. It's nearly 7 weeks. |
