I go all over the UK and have some great friends all over, so yes

It all depends on what restrictions you have at home as I'm sure many would travel but can't.

My preference is to travel although I can and have accommodated in the past. Distance wise I've never really thought about it. If we really got along via text or phone and we connected then distance wouldn't bother me.
