 Erm.... don't mean to be harsh but a) isn't it kinda important to know why someone was in prison for 27 years of their life before deciding if they are a great person b) how can someone know of NM but not know the background to his earlier life - it comes up in virtually anything said or written about the man.
It's worth checking out the story - it might actually give pause for thought about him. The organisation he was involved with certainly weren't angels.
Me personally, I still believe that given the times he lived in, the regime he lived under and the harshness of his sentence, he still was a great man. |

So freedom fighter or terrorist he was basically the south african version of gerry adams.......not so great then if that's the case..
But a great politican and statesman after his time in prison nevertheless........ but no angel.....
All this aside he was a great man now his mrs winnie was apparently a twat.... |
