There are way more fake accounts than there are genuine accounts, the site needs a clear up and revamp. There’s decent people on here just difficult to filter them all out. To wait for members to report fake accounts for fab to then take action shows they don’t care because a working moderator would clear through the fakes on this site easily. |

So what defines a “fake account”?
Maybe some single guy opens an account, doesn’t have any pictures or a couple friends only and a one line bio with the intention of having a look about before committing.
He’d presumably fall foul of the “fake account” police.
Filter effectively yourself and the proper fakes are glaringly obvious. |

The moderators are volunteers so working through something isn't really an option.
I've never chatted to a fake account in 10 years on the site and if the percentages really were so high the law of averages would state that I should have bumped into a few by now.

Admin don't wait for people to report something before they take action, they work all the time to moderate undesirables on the site...but what they do say is if people help and report anything dodgy, it helps them.
What is your definition of a fake OP? |

Hahaha.
Those 'undesirables' get everywhere.
Next thing we'll be trying to shift fake undesirables.
I don't really know what a fake is but I tend to split FAB into those who want to meet and those who just chat.
Our first check is if they have been on the site 12 months and no meet, not for us.
Secondly, did they read our profile
About 95% of single guys and 60% of couples don't.
The numbers then come tumbling down.
Seems to work for us. |

Thats a big one for me, I wont waste my time messaging if they have no meet after being on the site for a while. Single women and couples are more likely to be able to get meets. Most profiles who fit this, rarely have pictures too. So aren't worth the effort. |

I do understand why no meets after a long time would be a concern, but we fit in that bracket through no fault of our own and not for the want of trying. There are a lot of time wasters on here and it is more difficult for couples looking for single females ... So I don't think you can use that to assume it's a fake profile..
Totally get your frustration though !! |

As a detective for the fake account police i understand that there would be many reasons as to why someone is on here and I agree with your example.
The pictures are the biggest giveaway.
Ai pictures
Photoshopped pictures
Repetitive pictures
Pictures that don’t match other pictures
Accounts that have the same pictures in other accounts.
Along with veris that also have questionable accounts. |

I assume you’re not messaging every account and there would be reasons for you as to why you wouldn’t message certain accounts, one of them reasons for being a fake account maybe or something seems off. |

I suspect ive fallen for a few fake accounts on Fab, where it's probably a single man pretending to be a women / couple or a fantasing husband posting without his wifes knowledge.
The fact is you never know, can never be 100% sure, so i don't know how the Moderators would be expected too.
If you search who is near you , you will probably discover that for every single women and couple that there are at least 15 single men.
The fact is people have a choice, we get a nibble and simply get gazumped. |

Yes this works most of the time for me been on over 12 months with no photo and no verifications is to me a waste of time

It isn't just that something feels off, it is that fake accounts are really really easy to see and therefore easy to avoid.
I've always been extremely fussy in who I chat to and in all my time here I've sent less than 100 messages total, so not even 10 a year.
I've never been catfished and never had a no-show so I've no reason to change my approach. |
