We're testing a new feature.

It shows a green dot, if the user is currently online, in places where the online status of the user isn't obvious. At the moment that is mailbox, newsfeed, photos pages and looked@me.

Feedback is welcome.

If your profile is hidden (via the privacy page), the green "online now" dot will not show against your username.

Love the online button feature. Can you tell me as a predominantly mobile user if it shows me as always online or one when I'm viewing the site. I never log out but I'm often away for some time and I don't want people to think I'm ignoring them

It doesn't matter whether you use web/mobile you only show as online if you're actively using the site.

Very useful feature....saves me having to look at the profile to see if someone I might want to chat to is online.

It's a great idea.

It would be useful if you could do something with deleting the messages in your inbox. Like delete all from the one user, or delete each page individually

To me it's no different than the words that showed up on both hot list and friends list anyway.

Not good/necessary....

Women will have even less peace to chat...feels a bit 'Big Brother' ish. Surely addressing the REAL issues that piss everyone off such as fakes, time wasters, non swingers and the massively imbalanced m/f ratios would be more in everyone's interest ?!! - rather than yet another Facebook like gimmick.

Don't want to have to hide my profile all the time , that just very silly in my opinion. It's hidden now but when it isn't I would love to be able to log on read the forums or even do some looking myself without anyone knowing I'm here.

"Bob"sends a message to a woman who interests him.

"Tom" also sends a message to the same woman.

Woman sees that Bob is online but Tom isn't and replies only to Bob.

That means Tom has to be online ALL the time to get a response.

... seriously that's going to be a problem for both sexes.

I really don't believe that people are being "hounded" by messages because of a green dot. The site showed you as online previously....The filters are there to help prevent unwanted messages

This is no different to how I sometimes reply to messages anyway....it's just easier for me to do it now. Nothing has changed.

Yep so they can be pestered to death. Just because I'm online (and yes I know I won't show as I'm hidden , bloody brilliant idea when I'm ready to meet I have to stay hidden so I can look myself. Makes perfect sense to me. NOT) doesn't mean I want to talk to friends.

There are better things admin could have spent time on than this. It's pretty pointless.

Why do you feel like you have to reply straightaway? If someone is desperate for a reply from you they could have checked before to see if you were online..people that can't respect that you have other things to do whether you are online or not, aren't worth talking to in my opinion, and will get blocked like they always have been.

I don't want to hide my profile, I want to get rid of stupid green dots, why should I hide my profile, I'm looking to meet people, I'm not looking to be inundated by people messaging cause they can now see me online, in my view there should be on/off option like do with Fabs on photos, admin just cause you like green dots doesn't mean rest of us do

Wrong, it only showed you as online if the clicked your profile, today I have had 42 saw your profile online, because of stupid green dot appearing next to my name in news updates and feed

Maybe not by the green.dot but by showing online can be enough at times.

Hiding profile can mean messages saying what ups what wrong.

Who say's some of the messages aren't wanted some extra filters would help though. Timing just because you've logged on doesn't mean you want to deal with messages the're are other things to the site.

I don't believe it is a facebook, gimmick...Lots of other chatroom platforms, show when people are online. FAB has always shown profiles that are online. Log on and you will get emails, at anytime of the day. Deal with the time-wasters?, non-swingers

! and the massively imbalanced, as we all have to, ourselves. This is a site for grown-ups and unfortunately, as in life, not everyone is mature......FAB are not accountable for these people.

Use the appropriate filters in place, to stop unwanted mail and deal or delete with the remainder.

If you come to a swingers site for peace, may I suggest, 'Knitters Weekly' as a more sedate environment.

Precisely, we're grown ups, that's why we don't need green or blue dots, yellow smiley faces or gold stars! We do however need a site that runs effectively for the purpose intended and I'm afraid Fab can be held accountable for their "Any idiots welcome" policies. For starters, they could ensure all fem profiles receive a call to verify it actually IS a woman, thereby removing the great majority of sad male fakes. Profiles with no verifications after 12 months should be automatically deleted - who needs them, and how many meets have they not shown up for?! Every profile should be set up with a clear face pic in private to save pissing everyone off with the turgid "professional" line. The list goes on ......

And why don't they? - Because this is a business first and foremost, secondly a rapidly growing 'social network' being sucessfully taken over by mainstream looking for cheap titillation behind laptops and 1-1 meets which is no different to the rest of the sexually active world...and getting it too as nothing is ever, nor will be implemented to stop them.

But as long as we have little green dots it appears all is well!

Why doesn't this site just switch over to VBulletin?

I mean. ..

VBulletin has all the things straight out of the box that admin keep having to incorporate anyway. And tons more.

You could use a the VBulletin framework and customize the site to look exactly the same as it does now.

Just under the bonnet would be a Ferrari.

This is kind of a skoda right now. ....

VBulletin is the answer.
