Please keep the feedback coming. We'd really like to hear from users we've not heard from yet 
From our post on thread 1.

We're testing a new feature.
It shows a green dot, if the user is currently online, in places where the online status of the user isn't obvious. At the moment that is mailbox, newsfeed, photos pages and looked@me.
Feedback is welcome.
If your profile is hidden (via the privacy page), the green "online now" dot will not show against your username.

green dot works .. well.. but i have an idea . could we have a tab link in chat that puts our friends names on the top of the chat member list as you can do for cams and sex ?
would save a lot of time seeing if your friends have arrived in your chat room and can welcome them ..

Don't think the green dot makes too much of a difference. Can live with/without it.
Although it's not a new idea, an "opt out" or "appear offline" would stop some peoples complaints it seems.
Thanks for constantly trying to improve the site though! |

I think it is excellent, I want friends to see that I am online, so they don't feel like they are stalking you when checking to see if you fancy a chat!
Good to see it doesn't show if you hide your profile too

Unless you hide your profile it doesn't matter what you do you will show as online.
Lots would like the option to turn it off though. |

I have never once seen a thread asking for a green dot/show online feature, nor could I understand the smiley face for friends thing...both of these are features the site had but in a slightly different format.
Why do you work on seemingly useless features like these when you are repeatedly asked for improved mail boxes and so on? It would make more sense to look at the most requested features than the never requested at all features. I appreciate you can't please everyone, and that the site supporter fees only go so far, but come on, give us things we need, not things we don't.

My messages increase markedly when I am online or just after compared to when I am not. 'Stop messages' would also be acceptable but:
a) we can already filter and it doesn't prevent friends/previous messages from messaging, and
b) isn't that more effort than just giving us a 'show as offline' option? |

Why should we have to hide our profile if we don't want it showing? Please offer us the chance to opt out like most of the other site features. Since this has been introduced I have had to block all people from messaging as I've had loads of unwanted messages saying "saw you online". This will more likely make me use the site less if there is no opt out available! |

Its a good addition, anything that improves visibility is good.
Although I would like to see an icon telling you that the profile is in the chat rooms, this would be really useful. you see your friends in chatroom, so you go looking for them for a chat. instead of messaging them and waiting for reply.

I like the green dot great idea well done...but I think you should be able to choose if want message notifications on in coming message so can turn it on or off.

This is already here.......when you go to your friends list there will be a speech bubble by their name if they are in the chat rooms |

I do like the "green dot".
However, I struggle to see why it would effect me in normal day-to-day use of the site.
More effective use of your programmer'so time might be to add East Anglia as a region?

Of all the things that you get asked for - why come up with something that you thought of all by yourselves one dull, boring, rainy afternoon?
Please, please, if you must add it, then give us an "Opt-Out" facility - I DO NOT WANT IT!!!
The last thing that I want is loads of messages coming at me the moment I've signed in...

Nice to see that all those so vehemently opposing the green dot saying that they were going to be hiding their profile to stop the bloody onslaught of "you're online" messages have now hidden their profiles as they claimed they would. .........oh no. ...they haven't.
Ps.....And I still haven't had a message that claims they saw I was online.  |

Never seen anybody saying that, or opposing it, just seen people asking for an opt out option, and asking if time would have been more wisely spent on something people have been asking for, rather than something people havent, people are allowed to have a different view on things. |

There are numerous privacy setting on here, it would be nice to have one that doesn't show you're online without having to hide your profile as message volume does tend to increase when you log on. |

I'm still waiting for one too.
Basically the problem is that people want messages only from the "kind of people" they want them from. So they don't want to use their filters more heavily or hide their profiles entirely. But there's nothing the site will ever be able to do to correct that, so the green dot which seems to have been welcomed by most who've commented, is totally irrelevant to their situation.
Which is why I'm not worrying about it or getting offended by messages from people who aren't offering what I'm looking for, because that's what the delete button is there for. |

Hey we didn't say we were going to hide our profiles it was admin who suggested that, then when I pointed out id that was the only way then there was no need to be a site supporter then, as the additional perks would no longer be valid would they?
All we want is a say in how we run our own profiles, not how the site sees fit by introducing a function that no one has even hinted at let alone suggest!
If you like and want it, then great, just let those of us who don't want it opt out. Or as per usual on these forums at times, it's your opinion that matters and no one else's? |

I don't think a personal attack is really necessary. If there was an opt-out, I'd probably use it. Just trying to bring a little perspective to something that really, in the grand scheme of things on here, isn't a big issue. |

I don't want to hide my profile. And to be quite honest, I don't see why I should have to!
Most site features have the choice of opting in or out......ie showing veris, veri summary, stealth mode......this should be the same too |

Some of us actually care about our privacy online and use the tools provided to us in order to help. Hence why I choose to view in stealth mode, have most pics private and cannot be found on here in an internet search.
So yes, if the dot was there when I joined and if there had been an option to not have it show on then I would have used it too |

The fact of the matter is it wasn't in place when I first joined! If there wasn't additional benefits of being a site supporter in the first place then I couldn't complain, the fact I pay to have additional pics, stay in stealth mode, having looked at me? In order to gain additional control of my own profile is to hide? Just null and voids all of those and therefore will be a loss in revenue. I don't want to be dictated to so like other features like 'fab me' or not as the case may be, we are able to opt out of those, why not this one? |

I totally agree. All other features on the site give us the option of making a PERSONAL CHOICE based upon our preferences. And as far as my opinion goes, that is the crux of it. The site are not giving us a choice whether to use this feature or not, it has just been forced upon us |

Its made no difference to how I manage my profile,I relaxed filters,got in influx of messages which is usual,not one of them said they messaged because they saw the green dot,I thought people could see who is online just by browsing couples online anyway

I have found the green spot very useful and welcome it. I hardly see the point of opting out of it as others have said, you can still see you are on line if you have them in your hot list, friends or who's on line now. If someone is checking up on you, they can find you without the green dot being present.  |

Green dot gets my vote, thanks.
You mention that it's in the 'newsfeed' too - I don't know where that feature is unless it's the news on the 'HOME' menu item on the left of the menu bar? Is that it?

Hi Green Dot is a great feature and save viewing profile.
Would it be possible to sort chat rooms by location ie distance away. Regional rooms dont work that well as you are always spanning more than one.

I think the green dot is very useful, as long as you can opt out of being shown as online as well! But I personally feel it's an improvement.

We're testing a new feature.
It shows a green dot, if the user is currently online, in places where the online status of the user isn't obvious. At the moment that is mailbox, newsfeed, photos pages and looked@me.
Feedback is welcome.
If your profile is hidden (via the privacy page), the green "online now" dot will not show against your username.

Please excuse my laziness but so much wrote about the green dot, can someone please tell me as i have hidden my profile and realise i think that a random person cannot see i am on line, would anyone i have on my friends list still see me with the green dot on if i log in???  |
