Do any women ever send the first message?

I've found that over the time I've spent on fab, and that's probably close to 8 years that it's extremely rare to receive a first message from a female. Do any of you ladies ever send the first message or is it pointless as you all get so much interest anyway??? |

Occasionally
I got into a conversation with a nice lady after she winked at me, and so I wrote to say thanks for looking at my profile.
She then wrote back to thank me for replying as she never knows how to start conversations! And it went from there
So it does happen, but maybe not as often as we'd all like |

Really interesting post OP..
Ive found that its very rare to recieve the first message from a woman.. but saying that i have..a lot more recently in fact.. its true women get bombarded with messages from just “Hi” to downright very f’in weird.. makes them think I’m not going to bother.. but if they like you and your profile stands out.. you never know.  |

I saw a thread on this before and decided to put it to the test one day. (before Covid)
I looked around for single guys that were of interest from what i could see profile and photo wise, were fairly local or certainly not to far away for travelling. I sent a messages to 10 guys
(not cut and pasted) all saying something about their profile.
I got 2 replies in 2 weeks. Most just remained Read (but no reply) a couple got deleted straight away after 6 weeks i just deleted the ones that didn't reply and added a site supporters note to each one
It did put me off sending out the first message to single guys, but happy to send them to couples |

As a single man I've only ever sent messages to a lady or a couple, I dont remember ever getting a message from a lady first, I know there are a lot of single men on here so it doesn't worry me, but just now an then a message from a lady would be nice, even if its just a chat  |

I did it as a dare once and response rate was pretty much 98%... however i get too many unwanted mail that keeps me too busy unless i hide my profile and go hunting myself. But I'm old fashion, I prefer the man to initiate  |

My bio isn’t to interesting my profile pic doesn’t give away much but yeah women definitely do ! It’s not an every day thing !
But women get hit up by so many men here they really don’t need to go looking |

I have. Normally it's because of their status update or because something on their profile has made me laugh.
Twice it's led to meets, once to some great ongoing chat that probably won't ever come to more but is entertaining in its own right. Far more often I either don't get a response or I get a "thanks, and happy fabbing" type message. |

I've recieved a few but I understand a lot of people wont due to all sorts of things, whether that be my age, profile or maybe I'm just not someone's cup of tea

I have received a few initial messages from ladies but not many.
It is nice to receive them and a little confidence boost too but I tend to be quite selective in who I message so I assume ladies are too which may explain why the majority of us men don't get too many first messages. |

I'm flattered to have received a fair number of 'first contact' messages from women over the years - some from single female profiles, some from the female halves of couples profiles...
....a few of the latter led to meets - though none from the single ladies have...
