Don’t pay your gas/elec. let it build up to 3-4K throwing them the odd £50 now & then stoping them being able to say you’ve made no effort to resolve. Then negotiate full and final settlement for about 1/4 of the amount and change provider: they can’t log a debt as they agreed to full/final settlement. Repeat.

Not true it will stay on your credit file as a partial settlement and can affect future lending and credit

Which means the shortfall of multiple people doing that, gets added to other peoples bills long term.
