"Maybe they use the block button as a filter ?"

This.

It's not always personal. It often happens with zero contact between you.

It's just a permanent filter to cut down on profiles someone will never be interested in showing up repeatedly when searching and browsing for potential company.

I often wonder why people get upset when they find themselves blocked by complete strangers on the Internet?

People have their own unique objectives for being here. If someone doesn't fit their ability to achieve their objectives, it can be sensible to block them. It saves unnecessary, avoidable time wasting. Most people are not mutually compatible with most other people. People need to get used to being blocked

We block for a few reasons

1. Unsolicited friend request as first contact

2. Repeated emails when we’ve said we’re not interested

3. People we’d not be interested in such as bi guys, married guys.

It’s not personal but it does make the site a bit easier to manage.

There is always a reason for a block, even if you don't think so.

I block for all sorts of reasons, I don't like their profile or status updates ie if they're ranty or name others.

If I realise I'm not compatible with someone after chatting, I block. This could be due to something they've said, or they become pushy & put me off.

Also if I've seen someone be pretty unsavoury more than once in the forums.

It's a very useful tool and makes fab a better experience in my opinion, it doesn't half wind some up though.

The levels of irony here.

Bitching about being blocked on a platform, in such a way that people you may want to interact with block you, not only reducing your ability to interact with people, but causing you to bitch about said people blocking you.

A few weeks ago whilst at a club, a woman started talking to me and we got along, didn't do anything other than chat. As we were leaving, and because I had my phone in my hand, she asked me to send her a friend request on fab. We searched her name on fab and couldn't find her. She went on her phone and checked why I couldn't find her. It turns out I was in her block list without me ever having interaction with her in the passed at all. No winks, no messages, never seen each other in person....nada

I think some women just love to build their block list up as it may make them feel more validated and/wanted

But who knows

To the OP, the site gives us the tools to use. We all get to choose who we speak to. If it bothers you then you might not be able to enjoy the site as it probably won't be the first time.

Having said that we blocked someone and I blew a raspberry at the screen as I did it. I felt better for it to be fair but yeah it was probably childish but not in the way you seem to mean

We normally block any people within 10miles that we aren't interested in... its nothing personal just easier for us to filter down the people on the "who's near by" bit of fab

As I said I wouldn't know as I've never looked at your profile. Makes no difference to me if you have or haven't

I find that I can get repetitive messages from the same person. But not that they are interested in me specifically, more that they’ve looked who is around and are messaging so many profiles that they don’t realise they’ve messaged me multiple times over the course of days or weeks with generic openers.

If I politely say I’m not interested, it has opened me up to abusive messages in the past. So it is simply easier to press block on those individuals.

Do you know I've never been blocked by the OP/person I'm commenting to/about, always someone who gets offended on their behalf. It always makes me

Not necessarily offended on anyone's behalf.

Sometimes it's just apparent that that's someone you'll never want a private interaction with and the button is right there

Sometimes when out of no where you get blocked it feels incredibly childish

Like an act of petulance

You can almost see the blocker stamping their feet and wailing "

This post and your silly little jabs at people show you don't really get the idea of consent. You came and cried to everyone because people exercised their desire to not want to converse with you.

Some of us like to wave our freak flag high but you should put down that giant red flag and have a think.

The only time being blocked bothered me was when they blocked immediately after seeing the face photo they requested. I either thought I must look like the back end of a bus or they knew me ha
