Queen yes. However, many other bands groups and singers come to mind. The constant reinvention of Queen through different music genres kept them top. Plus the wrote “I am in love with my car” which was brilliant.

Queen is another band I would put on my list of ‘hate everything they’ve ever done except about three songs’

I don’t think either of these are the best band in the world, but I like them - REM and The Prodigy.

I guess it depends how you define “the best”.

Most records sold/streamed historically? Within the last 5/10/25/50/100 years? Influenced the most acts (or most successful acts)? Most number of songs to hit the charts?

My all time favourite band is Tesseract, but going by how you might define “best” or most successful, they won’t be up there.

I’m tempted to say Metallica as they’re that good side eye at St Anger though) but…there’s only one band band that sounds utterly fresh every time I listen to them. As though I’m hearing them for the first time, every time I listen, and for that they are my best band ever.

It's all down to personal taste so a very difficult question to answer. I suppose you need to look at the sales figures so best band would be the biggest sellers. I heard something on the radio last Friday saying that ACDC'S Back in black album is now the third best selling album of all time behind The Eagles (I think that is a live album) and Michael Jackson's Thriller. The Eagles are good but I don't know enough of their songs to comment. The Back in black album alone makes ACDC my number one even though I don't like their later stuff

Floyd, Velvet Underground, Stooges, Heck even the Doors all worth a shout Not seen the Stones Mentioned? Who, Zep, Kinks, Beatles obvs. Pistols,Clash,Joy Division, Smiths. How do you pick but had to be a band from my era coz it means so much more to me. Nirvana, Public Enemy, Prodigy, Nearly.. Has to be Radiohead for me. Incredible live as well!
