Is there an artist who's stuff you like, that perhaps isn't that well known but you think perhaps most would probably like if they heard them?

Suggestion for new music for folks to explore welcomed.👍

I'll start with band "kino" particularly the track 'perfect tense'. It's like a well crafted, sophisticated pop song.

A great artist who's still not as well known as he should be is Gram Parsons. To a large degree he invented the country/rock genre which bands like The Eagles made millions from.

I’m a musician and have always happened to follow underground and unusual music where possible, right here in our very own Bradford, we have a bevy of local/world renowned artists like chantel McGregor, Psychlona, My dying Bride, Terrorvision, Paradise lost, and there’s an underground of musicians who’re great to see live. It just depends what music you’re into.

Here’s a link to our local “accessible” legends Psychlona, Yorkshire desert rock, for fans of queens of the Stone Age, dozer, fu Manchu etc https://youtu.be/PSJZZly1bFM?si=sCCcRD96Gy4asMLv

I've seen quite a few of these bands mentioned live.

Penguin cafe orchestra, they opened for portico quartet (also very good, especially the earlier albums)

Paradise lost ( ages ago opening for sepultura)

Steve Wilson and porcupine tree, opening for ozric tentacles.

If you like Sixto rodriguez / sugarman..I also recommend an artist called Jackson c Frank. 🙂👌

I had a government mule phase, but was not impressed. Flashes of brilliance. But their flashes beat most others entire output.

This to me is brilliant and is on my scene play list.

If you're a fan of 80's glam metal and love the likes of Motley Crue, Bon Jovi, Ratt and especially Poison then Starz did it first and were a huge influence, along with KISS of course, on that style.

Yes

I tell people that are folk fans to check his music out, he was an influence on nick drake & paul simon..

paul simon even lived with Jackson c Frank in the 60s in an apartment in london.

If you read just jackson c Frank 's Wikipedia entry it's an incredible story that you couldn't make up...there was an attempt to make a documentary film about his life (via crowd funding), not sure where that's up to.

In a similar vein I'd mention Bert Jansch whose work was shamelessly ripped off by Jimmy Page for Led Zep.

That is sadly true. Jansch couldn't afford a solicitor to sue Led Zep so never got his (due) royalties.

I've never seen a Bert Jansch gig where he didn't play at least one Frank song though. He certainly was a massive influence on all that scene.
