I've noticed swinging/nudism are treated as v different activities in general. And they are v different, to be fair.
But do people really go to nudist environments, see all that flesh, and not get turned on at all by it? |

To answer the OP though? Yep. I've been to many a beach, topless or nudist and not gotten turned on, because I'm there to switch off, relax and the lack of clothing is just for convenience rather than anything sexual.

Erm... Have you actually been to a fully blown naturist club? Me and my partner, we used to be members of one not far from me. Most people there were pensioners as they have a lot of time on their hands. Not a lot really to get turned on about. |

Nudity / naturism is about freedom and relaxation, for some its a stepping stone to swinging.
People do check out other people but more discretely than you would on a textile beach.

The short answer is - it depends.
If I am naked at home, then mostly i'm not aroused at all. I am just in my home undressed in just the same way that other people prefer stay dressed. If I feel horny and want sex or to masturbate then thats what happens - again, same as dressed people.
If I am in the countryside alone enjoying some naked time then mostly I am just enjoying the sensation of being naked outdoors and being 'in nature'. If I was with the right person and in a secluded spot then who knows... things happen, right?
If I was at a nudist beach or resort then the simple answer is that in over 20 years of visiting them I have never 'accidentally' found myself with an erection in the company of other naturists either just because I am around lots of their nude people or because I am having an intentional perv at someone.
BUT - Dont get me wrong, one of the attractions (for me at least) of being at nudist beaches or at a naturist resort is that it offers the opportunity to observe a great many attractive naked women unselfconsciously going about their business and I never get tired of looking at naked women!

Nudism isn't a sexual thing, per se, but as others have said, an attractive person is an attractive person! For me they don't become less attractive because they take their clothes off.
And I know of more than a few nudist areas where people go specifically to play, usually in a secluded area close to the actual beach.

That's the only thing that's holding me back,the fact that I might get an erection cause it would be embarrassing for me and the people around.

I'm a naturist, we both are in everyday life. It just feels a natural and human state to me. I don't get turned on by the idea of social nudity, neither by the idea of others being naked around me. I'm not any more turned on by someone naked as I would be if they had clothes on. If I find my self turned on by someone that's because I find them hot regardless of their state of dress. I don't find social nudity naughty or perverse, just normal and everday. There's genrally nothing particularly sexy about your average naturist setting. And to be fair you kind of quickly forget everyone's naked. In a way when every is naked you see them less as objects and more as just vulnerable imperfect humans like yourself.
