I'm starting to think holy moly ! Now and didn't book luggage but have 10kg hand luggage and underseat bag so will i live to regret it or will it be the best thing? 🤔🤔🤔😊😂😂

Secret hideaway in the pennines

You will have a brilliant time, not at anyone's beck and call, do what you want, eat where and what you want, and don't have to do anything anyone else wants to do.

Just chill, soak up some sun

I used to travel alone pre my current job which also takes me all over on my own but largely for fun I found sometimes you just needed to share a moment, a view a meal and experience and sometimes just need a hug

But I am happy to travel alone and have done for years

It’s the best educator ever

I should do it too, but can never been able to do it.

I statred solo travel last year. I was worried I'd be lonely but I wasn't at all. It was liberating.

It's a very different kind of freedom, not only can you do exactly what you want but you are free to be who you want to be.

As for luggage ,traveling light is the way forward.

I hope you have the best time x

Solo travelling is liberating and exciting.

The feeling of arriving at the airport and boarding.

The unknown of what you will embrace when you step off at the other side.

I’ve done so many solo travels and the feeling of not being on anybodies schedule but being completely free is absolutely incredible 😍

I used to go away quite regularly alone and loved it. You can go where you want and do what you want which is very liberating.

I’ve been to Japan alone as well as various pool/beach based holidays.

it took me nearly 2 hours, to walk it, I cooled my feet off in the stream, had fish & chips, then I got a bus back another way, then a taxi, to get another train back, all in all it cost over £120 just for the day

I love the solo Travel. I don’t even bother with the 10 kg hand luggage anymore. I just got a decent size small backpack, although I tend to avoid those fussy carriers that insist you put it under the seat but KLM, Air France, Norewigen and some of the cheap carriers are fine with a larger bag.

I find the hand luggage case limits how you can travel and what you can do. I like to use trains buses lift shares sbetter & don’t feel the need for more than a small bag. You can get anything you need in country and do laundry if needed. When you simplify your Travel, you have a much better time.

I’m just planning 2 to 3 months in Asia next winter and will just be going with just hand luggage…

I’m not impulsive with trouble. I like to research and do rough itineraries, I made a few mistakes in the past by not researching things properly

Hi OP, solo travel is great. You can do what you want and when you want to do it.

Who are you flying with? Jet2 let you put your 10kg in the hold so you don’t need to think about taking your liquids out at security.

I always do a free walking tour in a city. They are a great way to see the city and to meet other people. That’s assuming you are going to a city.

Venice was almost deserted in January. It was gorgeous, atmospheric , gothic and misty with very high waters and no tourists.

Manchester City Centre

I always do solo holidays, much prefer to do things my own way, have an adventure and meet new people

Also, with being self employed as a DJ for over 10 years, sometimes I can only do midweek, or last minute trips… and it means you’re not being held back by someone else, or let down last minute

My first solo trip was a Euro Road trip, Manchester to Amsterdam, via Antwerp in my old Abarth 595

Then a year later, did another road trip to Berlin, stopping off in Antwerp, Ghent, Cologne & Hannover - absolutely loved it!!

Flew to Germany once to Frankfurt, and then travelled around by train, stopping off in Munich & Stuttgart - then flew back from Frankfurt - did this as a return flight at the time was only 40Euros

…and most recently did a trip to Thailand for 3 weeks and travelled around a bit - driving on the motorway on a scooter was probably the highlight - felt like 50000mph, was closer to 40mph

I still go away with mates and partners occasionally, but I think for me, once you’ve gone on holiday solo… if you do it right, it just makes sense to do it that way every time if you can - I rarely book more than the first 3 nights accommodation in advance, and just have an adventure - I’ve never had any issues either. I also occasionally get asked to fly to certain places for work, and usually book a few extra nights so that I can explore and have a mini holiday

I definitely think it’s character building, and gives you a massive sense of freedom if you can do it - you make mistakes sometimes, but you also learn new things each time you travel - definitely worth doing… life should be one big adventure

I'm sure there's more than just 17 year old Romeo's out there. Kind of reminds of that song from Dire Straits, Romeo & Juliet.

I've never done a beach holiday on a solo trip unless its diving focused. Can't you do something with a mixture? My last was city and mountain. There was lots to do but not so much I felt overwhelmed. At least on your own you don't have to compromise on what it is you want to do!

I did a solo holiday for the first time about two years ago. It was nice but I got a bit bored by the 4th day. I also struggled as a shy introvert to make convo with people (I'm not one for striking up conversations with people I don't know)

I wanted to do a city break but didn't feel brave enough on my own as a woman, I probably wouldn't want to leave my hotel after 9pm. So I ended up on a quiet little beach holiday in Spain.

Something like sharks bay in Sharm/Egypt would be perfect for this. There is the reef right there by the accom as well as the national parks, you can also sunbathe annd chill on the beach and trek up and stay at the top of Mount Sinai. I did this trip a couple of years ago.
