I have a gorgeous plug in percolator and whenever I use it I always question why I don't use fresh beans for every single cup of coffee. I've never had a bad cup of coffee from it, even using beans that aren't the best quality.
It's a faff and I don't always have time, so frequently end up compromising by using a pod machine which tastes better than instant but is more convenient than fresh ground.
Fresh ground has become a weekend treat. |

I am currently looking for an espresso machine.
So any recommendations would be appreciated.
I currently either buy beans and grind them myself or buy ground coffee & use a French press or Italian Moka .
I only only drink a hybrid of espresso & americano so it is easy for me.

Thank you for the recommendation, however I don't want a machine that grinds the beans or measures out the grind.
I want to actually barista the coffee myself.

Can't stress the importance of decent water for coffee (and tea).
For example...down South, hard water areas, ruins a drink.
Up North here with this beautiful soft water, even a Nescaffe can taste splendid |

I've heard good things about the Breville Bambino which seems a good budget machine. James Hoffmann (you'll hear this name a lot!) has a good video about this if it helps.

"I’m looking to get a coffee machine. Probably one of those pod ones as seems easier. Any recommendations? "
Get one that takes Nespresso pods and use generic or reusable pods with it would be my recommendation. We've found a brand that's excellent and way cheaper than Nespresso itself. |

Don’t bother with a coffee machine! Get a coffee grinder and a cafetière. You can then explore all the different coffee regions and strength of roasts and how it changes flavour and acidity.
I can also recommend a Jogo straw for when you are on the move.
I’m a massive coffee snob and can’t abide by coffee machines. The quality of coffee is so poor. |

Seem those and not too pricey. |

Ours is L'Or baristo and suits us well. Their customer service is excellent too. |

My wife is a lover of the bean (not in the way I'd like, as I've been barking up that particular wrong tree for years...) who dislikes instant coffee intensely, and one occasion - when I was suffering from insomnia - innocently asking if she had decaf almost cost me my marriage!!
She doesn't grind her own beans (oo-er) but buys the best filter coffee she can, and always pounces when some go on offer. Incredibly, coffee-bags were a revelation to her, as they bypassed her snobbery! She recommends Buffalo Soldier, Devil's Roast and Lazy Ape products. |

Serious coffee enthusiast here. I’ve been to coffee plantations and the machine is absolutely secondary to the process.
Choose your bean
Choose your roast
Grind
Brew
Enjoy
The best coffee machine is the Aeropress. About £40 and is all you need. Perfect espresso and americano every time. |

How does this work when you have guests, or do you need to buy more than one?
This could be a very inexpensive solution for me.

Cafetière for me, most mornings. I get freshly ground coffee every few days during my morning walk.
Other than my Cafetière I have no coffee machines, implements or paraphernalia. Perhaps I should invest... ... ... |

You can do multiple brews into a jug, and the setup even comes with an attachment for such situations… or you could have multiple aeropress. In saying that, it’s so quick that you won’t be waiting around between cups… never had a problem. |

Coffee …. The life blood for me although I really have scaled down the caffeine. !
Get to the point ….
I cannot believe how good McDonald’s coffee is. It’s always a surprise to me how good it is ! But it’s the only thing I buy, there … but it’s ok !
it’s out there !! I’ve said it |

Agree on Maccy D coffee. It’s actually better than the more expensive chain cafes |

A cafetière is so economical too- and good for the environment!
What kind of beans are you guys brewing at the moment? I am stuck in a rut with bog standard supermarket Maya Gold… keen to try something more interesting but I am not into ultra dark roasts or acidic notes/flavours ☕️ |

Not the OP but I use a hand grinder for my brews which can work with an Aeropress or any other brewer. You can look up "Kingrinder" and see their range for affordable ones |

At the moment I’ve got two… a hand grinder and an inexpensive electric blade one, which is okay. I’m looking to get a burr grinder to replace a sage one I’ve had previously. |
